Home from the movie theater, Charlie takes his acoustic guitar outside the dorms and sits under a tree to play.

He's not bad. In fact, he's pretty good.

*wanders by on her way out, stops to listen*

Why couldn't you play like that earlier this week, when we all thought you were ritually sacrificing a small animal?

"I was ritually sacrificing a small animal," he deadpans.

Parker meets his look with one equally bland. "Then keep it down next time. Sacrifices at 8am when I don't have class 'til 11 are punishable by sacrifice substitution."

*she pushes her shades up*

"Tell your roommate I'm going to push him into locker 327 the next time I see him, okay?"

"Can I tell him why?"

"Oh, believe me, he knows." Parker smiles at his guitar, and shakes her head. "Talent is given to the strangest people."

She walks off without saying good-bye.

"Me and Mozart both," Charlie says and resumes playing.

Hullo again, Charlie. Mind if I sit and listen?

"Hey. Not a'tall. Got any requests?" Like he's going to say no to an audience.

I'm not very familiar with popular music these days... you're free to go wherever the muse takes you.

"I do know more than just pop music . . ." He switches to something jaunty, and sings, "'Oh that'll be the day that you say goodbye, that'll be the day that you make me cry, that'll be the day-ay-ay when I die.'"

*leans against a nearby tree to watch Charlie*

It's always so incredible qwhen you barely know someone and all of a sudden you see him doing something he loves. It's like the best in that person comes out.

I wonder what makes me look that way?

**End internal monologue**

"Wow, you're really good," Angela says.

*waves*

Hey, Charlie. Sounds good.

*pulls up a patch of grass*

"Thanks." He grins at her. "I practice."

"Hey, Anakin. Thanks."

To show off, he switches to Bach. It's very intricate.

Actually, I've loved that song since I was a little girl - makes me miss home a bit. You're quite good, you know.

Oh! I can play that one on piano - took me weeks to learn!

I could get used to this sort of music.

Sounds a bit like home.

He grins at her even more widely. "Thanks. My mum always had music playing in the house--I think I've heard just about everything except, maybe, Tibetian chant."

"I've been playing a long time--since I was teeny tiny, really. Hours of practice. Hours." He shows her his calloused fingers.

"Yeah? Cool. If you've got some recordings of music where you're from I'd love to hear them. I love learning new stuff."

*Lily reaches out, as if to touch the callouses, but pulls back instead*

Wow - that's... dedication.

Of course. There's this club band out of the Mos Eisley Cantina that'll blow you away. I'll bring you a copy later.

"The price you pay," he says with a shrug and starts playing again.

"Cool. My mum said I'd learn a lot of new stuff here--I gess she was right."

Hey, you're not bad. Wish I'd brought my Strat, but Rat's just gotten started playin' again an' I didn' want to bother him for it.
