*Outside the door to 209, Thursday night*

As Julian is seen to actually exit his room for the first time in a couple of days, a piece of paper flutters out of his armload of books. It is cream-colored stationery, very well-made, with no other distinguishing marks or letterhead. The handwriting therein is neat.



My dear Julian,

I've received word that you're shirking in your studies due to a new rule laid down by the administration. While I feel your pain, I must remind you that I did not send you to this school merely to shoot things. You are destined for greatness, as Rambaldi has said, and I will accept no less from you in all areas, academic, weapons-related, and any other skills you might pick up. If you insist on behaving like a spoilt child, I will have you removed, since you'll be of no further use to me. Perhaps the head of K-Directorate would like a new vodka-boy. Don't disappoint me, Julian. ~~~ID



Not having noticed the loss of the note, Julian is sprawled out with his notebooks in the second-floor common room, trying to catch up.
