Room 408

Belthazor headed back to his room after class to meet up with Angelus. Whatever happened at FH this weekend must be a good story if Angelus was so reluctant to share. He couldn't wait to hear what had gone down. This would definitely take his mind off things.

Popcorn, he decided, might be inappropriate.

Angelus came right in without even knocking. "So what does it take to find someone in this town willing to stake you when you so desperately need it? I'm asking."

Belthazor looked idly around the room. "Well, Principal Connor took all the sharp pointy objects away, but I'm sure we can improvise. What's up?"

"Where were you with that kind of creativity on Saturday?" Angelus asked. He thumped a hand over his heart. "I'd have taken anything. Chair leg, splinter, right here. It'd have been a mercy, which was sure lacking from all these so-called good guys."

Belthazor looked Angelus over curiously. "Don't tell me you got your soul back."

"Oh no," Angelus said, "but gold star for guessing. No, worse. I didn't get my soul back but I thought I had."

Angelus slumped down onto Lindsey's bed, his expression not unlike pouting. "Go on, laugh. I would in your shoes."

Belthazor struggled not to burst out laughing. "How...just how did that happen?"

"Because God hates me. Also the yearbook committee has way overshadowed our bake sale idea." Angelus turned puppy eyes - not that he would admit to having puppy eyes - on Bel. "I saved people. I saved the entire frikkin' school! Tell me how that's not a pain that's going to linger."

"Wow, man, you're going to have to do something horribly vile to live that down," Belthazor said. "Do you know how it happened at least? So it won't happen again?"

"I was thinking the usual torture/murder combo," Angelus said. "But I need to cleanse first. Otherwise I just can't enjoy it. Leaves a taste in your mouth. And apparently the yearbook food was cursed. Teach me to show school spirit. You should've seen what happened to Faithy."

Belthazor leaned forward, intrigued. "Do tell. Did she put on a cheerleader outfit and shake her pom poms?" He sat up straight for a moment and closed his eyes. "Wait...happy place. And I'm back."

"Hang on, I need a minute," Angelus said, his own eyes closed. "And... yeah, no. Sadly. Though she came close. She thought she was Buffy and let me tell you, Buff could work that little skirt."

"So if you thought you were your souled self and she thought she was Buffy, did she give you your moment of ~~orgasm~~ happiness and set you free? And is she back to being Faith or still in Buffy mode?" He paused, then added, "And what was that about a video?"

"Oh no, we went and saved the school like good heros do," Angelus said, sarcasm dripping from every word. "God forbid el retard ever tries to get himself some with a girl that he likes. It'd mean enjoying himself and we can't have that happen, ooooh no."

Angelus began to pat himself down for cigarettes. "As for the video, I like to call that one '101 reasons why anybody smart enough to be your minion needs to be killed right from the start'."

Belthazor tossed Angelus his pack of cigarettes after taking one of his own, then conjured up a fireball to light his. Holding out the flame toward Angelus, he said, "So, have you recovered all the copies or do we need to do some damage?"

"See? This is why you've gotta stop going away on weekends," Angelus lit his cigarette and ~~pulled Bel in for a kiss~~ patted Bel on the cheek with his free hand. "I mention a problem, you're already there on how violence is, in spite of what those PSAs try to teach us, a damn good answer."

He sat back, leaning against the wall. "Marty's mine. It was my mistake to give him a little rope. Now I'm going to teach him how to hang himself. I know Faithy's got ideas about taking the entire yearbook staff. But me... I want bigger."

Belthazor grinned. "No more trips home for awhile, I think," he said. "Got things...settled. So I should be around for the next zombie invasion or to ~~give you a moment of happiness~~ lock you in a closet the next time you start ~~listening to Manilow~~ thinking you have a soul."

He took a drag on his cigarette then asked, "So, what's the plan for Marty?"

"I like having a good boy by my side," Angelus said, pointing to Bel with his cigarette. "You remind me of Spike, only not as mouthy and annoying. Also you seem to use your brain. This makes me happy on a bone-deep level.

"Marty," Angelus said, flicking his ashes onto Lindsey's bed, "is going to be taught that I only find blackmail attempts to be cute and funny the first time. Also that it's a dumb idea to advertise your vulnerabilities. Especially in cute bookish redheads because you just know I have a hard time threatening those."

"Oh, yeah," Belthazor said, nodding in agreement. "Most of the time the easiest way to get to a man is through his girl. Let me know if you need a hand with anything. I could use some fun."

"Could help me with two things right now," Angelus said. "One ~~hand job~~ is that it's clear to me that I'm coasting on some arrogance here with my favorite pet projects. Who's to say tomorrow I'm not going to wake up thinking I'm soul boy again? Or w - no, actually there is no worse. Still, you can see how this presents bad news and problems for our little gang."

Belthazor shrugged. "I suppose there's the chance any of us could switch sides unexpectedly with all the weird magic in this place. We just gotta know what to do to put things back right. I'm not going to hold bad yearbook food against you."

"True, true," Angelus said. "But if somebody slaps the soul in me that's going to be sticky. We need somebody to be in charge until I get back. Somebody I can count on to both lead and do the wrong thing. Bel ~~will you marry me~~ how's about officially being my second in command?"

~~Oh, yes, yes!~~

"Of course," Belthazor said. "I got your back~~side~~." He felt honored by Angelus' faith in him, and now was doubly sure he didn't want the vampire to find out about his momentary lapse with Phoebe. That was over. Behind him. Really.

"Fabulous, we'll have a drink to celebrate," Angelus smirked. "Could even go down to Spike's pub and rub it in his face. Though actually he could prove useful since he's a townie. But he can't get on school grounds so that's why I'm going with you. ~~Also you look hot in those pants - and even hotter out of them.~~

"Second order of business," Angelus said, "retribution. Big retribution. The entire school had to watch me in my day of humiliation. I could deal with that by torturing myself or everybody else in the world." Angelus mimed weighing two objects that were held in each hand. "Yeah, tough call."

"A drink sounds good to me," Belthazor said. "Maybe it will get our creative juices going ~~and we can shag~~ and we can get a good idea for just what kind of retribution we can pull off."

"Sounds like a plan. Free tonight?"
