Drusilla was humming in her side room, shards of porcelain crunching under her feet as she danced around, holding Miss Edith.

"Footsteps," she said quietly. "Daddy's dearest friend, come to play, perhaps?"

When he reached the bottom of the stairs he paused, letting his eyes get accustomed to the dark. Fortunately demon eyesight was better than normal human's. "Drusilla?" he called out.

"I hear you," she called out in a sing-song voice. "Can you come and find me?" She'd only lit one small candle in her parlor. "For you, I have tea."

OOC: Okay, I know Belthazor fairly well from Charmed canon, and I was wondering what psychic impressions Dru might pick up on from him. She'll pick up on the half-human thing from vampire senses alone, I'd think. The rest? I don't know much of what plotlines you have going on, so I'd appreciate it if you could give me suggestions of stuff I could throw in there that might work.

He followed the sound of her voice through the darkness in the basement until he saw a faint flicker of light ahead. "Come out, come out, wherever you are," he murmured.

[OOC: I wrote this about how I'm playing him. He's been trying to prove himself a great force for evil in the Underworld to compensate for the half-breed rep, but since coming to FH he's been troubled by developing feelings, particularly for Phoebe, of course. We're kinda mirroring show canon except he doesn't know that the Charmed Ones are the Charmed Ones at this point. So on the one hand he's in love with Phoebe, on the other he's ashamed of those feelings and just wants to be and evil and powerful demon.]

"You like to play games," said Drusilla, her tone almost cheerful. "I knew we'd be friends. You're nearly here." She poured out a cup of tea and set it on a saucer on her table, then placed a mug down for herself.

OOC: Ah, thanks. Very cool, and useful stuff. I have to do one of those for Dru. I plan on picking up on some of the emotional stuff, no concrete facts, and the half-demon thing. Cool?

He stepped into the parlor and saw Drusilla sitting at her table. "You must be Drusilla," he said. "Angelus has told me about you. You're his daughter, right?"

[Cool!]

"His beautiful princess, yes," said Drusilla. She nodded at the seat across from her. "So you know what I am, then? Not many here do. And they don't know about Daddy and I." She gestured at the cup of tea. "I warmed it just for you."

OOC: Okay, I'm wiped. I have to sleep. Finish tomorrow?

"Nice to meet you finally," Belthazor said. "And I guess Angelus has told you about me?" He took the offered seat and eyed the cup suspiciously. Was it blood? He certainly wasn't squeamish about it, but drinking it would be new. What the hell, when in Rome.... He raised the mug and took a sip.

[OOC: Sure. I'll be around most of the day so just comment whenever. :) ]

"I know who you are," says Drusilla. She lifted her mug and wrapped her hands around it. "Why did you want to meet me? To learn all of my Angelus' dark little secrets?" She sips delicately from her mug.

OOC: Yep, blood in the mug. *eg*

It was blood all right. He'd taken part in blood rituals in the Underworld and surely there had been blood in the various elixirs he'd drank over the years, but this was definitely a new experience. Wasn't too bad. He'd had worse.

He set down the mug and sat back in his chair. "No, I don't want to know all his dark secrets. Unless there's anything you think I need to know, of course. But he did tell you knew what to do if he ever got a soul again."

[ooc: Aww, meeting the family! Such an important step in a young couples relationship... ;) ]

Drusilla dipped a biscuit in her mug and bit into it. "I'm not mad at him today," said Drusilla. "So I shan't get out the picture book to show you."

She set down her mug and dabbed at her lips with a white napkin, leaving smears of red on the corners. "Does somebody want to give him a soul?" she asked, her eyes dark and hungry. "Or do you need to know about souls?"

He couldn't help but wonder what a Drusilla mad at Angelus might reveal. Could prove interesting in the future.

"I'm sure there's always someone out there plotting to give him a soul," he said. "But as far as I know he's fine. Haven't seen him about for a few days, though." He hesitated, then went on. "If someone did put his soul back, how would you get it out?"

OOC: We have to make sure Daddy's ~~boyfriend~~ best friend will treat him right, now, don't we? ;)

[OOC: Well, you know, Spike already hates me, so might as well get approval from some member of the family. ;) ]

[ooc: Spike's just jealous. He knows you've got a better ass than he does. ;) ]

[ooc: See? Dru always has the right priorities. That's why she's Daddy's favorite.]

[OOC: Is that all you ever think of? What about my mind? *sob*]

[ooc: How can he think when the mere sight of you makes sure the blood's rushing nowhere near his brain? ;) ]

OOC: Also, Penn's a twit, and James and Lizzie are pale imitations of the real thing. But let's just face it, Dru will never be boring.

"Tell me what you really want," purred Drusilla. "Because the state of Daddy's little affliction and what's to be done? That isn't for you to know." She smiled at him. "Unless he's afflicted and I need your help. But until then, we shan't take any chances that naughty little do-gooders can overhear."

OOC: Okay, I've been playing that Buffyverse nonhumans can detect a soul or not, per Darla's "filthy soul" comment on A:tS and Anya's detecting Spike's soul in s7 (*insert rant here*) of BtVS. So let me know, if possible, what Dru might detect of Belthazor's soul. Does he have a full soul, or a partial one as a half-human, or...? I so don't want to tread on your toes here.

OOC: Spike will be nice to you if I ask him to. He'd do anything for his Princess.

He nodded. "Good point. But he did tell me to go to you should it happen, so if it ever does, I'll do what I can to help you deal with it." He tried hard to appear casual. "But, yeah, this isn't about his soul. I was wondering if...whatever it is you do...could pull a soul from someone else who doesn't want one."

[OOC: I've always assumed he had a full soul, and I'm fine with Dru sensing it. He's suppressed it most of his life, but it's there.]

"If Daddy is ever lost to me again, I would be very sad," said Drusilla, her eyes narrowed. "But you'd help me feel better, wouldn't you?"

She put her napkin and mug off to the side. "Souls," said Drusilla contemplatively. "So many things you can do to one. So many ways to make them pop--" She spread her fingers out and let her hands float down to either side of her. "--and float away in the wind, but the right words are so very hard to find."

He leaned forward in his chair. "What would you need to find the words?" he asked.

Drusilla closed her eyes then, swayed side to side in her chair. "I can hear in your heart," she said softly. "Music, loud and anguished, violins scraping their bows along your skin until it's raw and bleeding and beautiful." She stopped and opened her eyes. "The pain of a human soul in a demon's heart," she said tenderly, reaching out to caress Belthazor's cheek gently. "So much anguish. The Kalderash knew, long ago, how to rid yourself of such anguish. They lost their tricks, though."

Belthazor tensed. She knows. "Do you...do you know their tricks?" he said slowly. "Can you make the pain go away? I...don't want it anymore. I never wanted it."

"Poor, sweet boy," said Drusilla. "So much pain, never wanted to have his heart pierced. They have their books, full of annals and rituals, but the key was lost. A whole tribe, slaughtered in the night, left for carrion crows and wolves to find by morning's light, and no key anywhere to be found."

Her voice dropped to a whisper. "I have the key," she said. "Stole it out of an old gypsy's mind before Grandmummy snapped her neck. Can't find the book, though, nor the crystal ball. Find me those, and I'll chant for you."

OOC: Hehehe. This is going to be fun.

He had to strain to hear her. "Book? Crystal ball?" he repeated. "Where are they? Tell me where to look, and I'll find them." He hated sounding this desperate, especially because if Drusilla said anything to Angelus, he'd lose respect in the vampire's eyes.

[OOC: I'm so very afraid. ;)]

OOC: OMG, can I please have Dru pick up on that last bit about losing respect in Angelus' eyes if Dru told him about this? So had to ask before I responded.

[OOC: Sure! *gulp*]

"You want the book?" she asked. "You'll have to quest for it, to win your way past hardships and dangers. But then, you're a danger yourself, aren't you?" Drusilla glanced about the room. "It's not any crystal ball you must find. The Kalderash know them. The Kalderash still make them, sell them, though they can't use them."

Her eyes light up with malevolent glee. "And you don't want me to tell Daddy, do you? Don't want to let him know you feel such weak, human pain?"

OOC: It's Dru. She's cryptic, so I don't want to make this too easy. But let me know if I make it too cryptic.

He sucked in his breath. He hated those eyes of hers; they seemed to be able to see into the very soul he wanted to be rid of. "No, I don't want him to know," he admitted through gritted teeth. "Are you going to tell him?"

[OOC: Orb Of Thesulah? ;)]

"Mmm." Drusilla considered it for a few moments, looking up at the ceiling and tapping one finger on her cheek consideringly.

"No," she said finally. "I simply couldn't bear the thought of his laughter flaying at your skin. So much more fun when it's a knife sharpened to a gleam. But perhaps I'll ask you a favor in return some day. So many good little boys and girls at this school, never enough naughty ones who can't play nice."

Her eyes snapped back to meet his. "Come to me when you have your book and your crystal ball. Then we'll burn your soul on a pyre of blood."

OOC: Oh, totally an Orb of Thessulah. And we even have a magic shop in town! I'm having such fun with this!

Belthazor barely suppressed a sigh of relief. He'd fought so hard for respect in the Underworld, overcoming the taint of his human side, and losing it over a girl was just insane. Book. Crystal. Kalderash. Not much to go on, but maybe he could find something out in the library. Or do some stealth research the next time he was in the Underworld.

He stood up. "Thank you, Drusilla. Hopefully I'll be seeing you again soon."

OOC: Hee! My poor confused demon. ;)

OOC: Aren't you lucky my other character just (temporarily) went evil and works in the library?

[OOC: Oh so convenient that!]

OOC: Actually, it wasn't planned, but Janet just slept with Daniel, and you knew that mean she had to die or get snaked, so... I picked the latter and am having what should be illegal levels of fun with it.

I really ought to respond to your IC comment now.

"For Daddy's best friend?" asked Drusilla. "Anything." She waved brightly at him.

He nodded at her in farewell and took a few steps back. For some reason, he was unwilling to turn his back on her, but he forced himself to do so and headed back upstairs to the dorms.
