Room 302 [closed to Hank & Veronica]

Veronica walks up the stairs to 302 and knocks on the door.

::rushes up behind Veronica, still shirtless::

My apologies for my tardiness, Veronica. There was an... incident after you left.

::opens the door and waves her in::

Veronica takes in Hank's appearance.

"Are you okay?"

::sighs::

After you left, some little pyromaniac apparently decided that I would look better en flambe. Someone doused me with a pitcher of ice water and it soaked my shirt, so here I am.

::grabs a hair dryer off his desk, plugs it in and starts drying himself::

Rover came and got the kid, but I couldn't get back until now.

Veronica watches, unsure if she should offer to help or not.

"Um... want me to get your back?" she says, hesitantly, taking a few steps closer to Hank.

She catches the slight sent of smoke, which triggers a flashback to her being locked in a burning refrigerator. All of a sudden, she feels like she can't breath.

Thank you, I would appreciate it.

::turns off dryer to hand it over and notices Veronica's freak-out::

Veronica? Veronica! What's the matter?

::gets up and walks towards her::

Veronica closes her eyes and takes a few deep breaths, visualizing her 'happy place' as per her therapist's instructions.

She opens her eyes and sees a concerned looking Hank standing above her and realizes she is sitting on his floor.

"I'm sorry, Hank," she stammers, getting shakily to her feet. "I just... well... I think I told you that I was attacked a few months ago? I caught the scent of smoke and it kind of freaked me out."

She is visibly embarrassed.

::helps Veronica up then slaps his forehead::

I'm sorry, I should have remembered that. Please, sit down and take a minute.

::walks over and closes the room's door::

She sits at Hank's desk and takes a few more deep breaths.

"It's not your fault, Hank. It... well... it doesn't always hit me. I guess the thought of you being on fire coupled with the faint smell of smoke just triggered me. I'm so sorry."

It's not your fault either, Veronica. And look: except for some charred fur and wounded pride, I'm fine. ::spreads arms wide::

::opens a desk drawer and pulls out some tapes and points at the tapedeck/clock-radio::

Would you like to start listening to the tapes while I shower the smell out?

Veronica gives Hank a weak smile.

"I'm glad you're okay. And thanks for the tapes. I think I'll take them back to my room and listen later, if you don't mind. I'm kind of tired. But let's hang out again soon, okay? I promise not to freak out."

[ooc: mun is tired and going to bed... but i'd like to explore the aftermath of V's attack more... it didn't get much play in the 1st ep... ]

::holds the door open for her::
