239/240 - Homecoming Prep

After getting dressed and putting on his bandana, Kawalsky returns to room 239/240. Not wanting to walk in on anyone who might be female and might be getting dressed (What? He didn't want to get beaten up didn't want to be ungentlemanly), he knocked on the door.

"Uh, Janet? Liz? Anyone else? You guys decent?"

Charlie looks a little dumbfounded and doesn't say much, acting as if he really is a teenager again. Damned hormones. Eventually, he finds his voice.

"Hey," he grins. "You look great." He pulls a corsage out of his pocket and offers it to Liz.

Elizabeth blushes as she takes the corsage

"Thanks. You look..." She pauses and bites her lip. "Very eighties."

Kawalsky looks sheepish. "Um, yeah. I'm a traditionalist." Charlie ushers Liz out of the room and closes the door behind her so Janet can't hear what's being said. "You think we should try to get Janet to come along? It's been a rough week, but I think if we got her dancing she might cheer up a little. Talking won't work, but I reckon I could carry her. What d'you think?"

Elizabeth starts to protest that she's not got any shoes on yet, but quietens quickly.

"Parker, Sam and I are trying. I've already declared that we'll change her clothes ourselves if we have to. You wouldn't mind if she hung with us, would you?"

"No! Of course I wouldn't mind." This was Janet, after all. "You think you guys can get her changed? If she still refuses to leave, I can carry her down there." He grins. "See, there's a reason you keep me around."

She smiles broadly, and standing on tiptoes, reaches up to kiss his cheek.

"We'll do our damn best. Wait here for a moment."

"Yes ma'am." He goes to lean against the wall across the hall.

She sends him a quick, genuine smile as she heads back inside.

Janet waves to Charlie as she frantically does--something with the mousse to hopefully make her hair presentable.

She opens the door. "You can come in now. Janet's finished getting naked changing. She's agreed to come with."

"So no carrying her? Damn, I was looking forward to that."

"Not at the start of this evening," she laughs. "We'll see about the end."

She tucks her hand around his arm

Charlie grins. He has to be the luckiest guy on Earth to get to take not one, but TWO gorgeous women to Homecoming.

This was definitely better than his first time in High School.

"Let's go. Professor Cregg said that she was performing something called The Jackal, and it's not to be missed. I really don't want to get into class on Monday morning and admit that I missed it. Especially as I'm starting as her assistant? Did I tell you that?"

Elizabeth happily babbles on about CJ and the Bartlet administration on their way to the dance.

"Thanks, man. That was really a transition phase for me, I was a little unsure about it." Claps Jack on the back. "But thanks for the praise, pal."

Oh that's just not right. How the hell do you make fun of someone who's helping you?

"Yeah. That's me alright. You seemed to get some pretty heavy stubble overnight there." Jack looks closer. "Is that eyeliner?"

"Um, yeah." He rubs at his eye. "I haven't figured out how to get it off after the Jaffa thing yet. How the hell does Teal'c manage it? It makes my eyes itch."

"Just be glad you didn't poke your eye out. Would've missed all the fun stuff. Sorry about the ribs BTW, didn't mean to get you so hard last night. Well okay I did but still..."

"Nah, that's okay. Sorry about the arm. And the collarbone." Kawalsky feels guilty.

"Eh, no problem. You've done worse drunk. This is nothing. Besides, I got to torture the New Doc (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandom_clinic/22086.html?thread=683590#t683590) and get happy pills."

As much as Jack wants to milk his pain Kawalsky really is a good guy. And Jack knows he usually wouldn't do something like that on purpose.
