Tuesday morning, throughout the dorms

A regal looking cat pads into the dorms from the main school and starts inspectigating* the halls and common rooms.

*Inspectigate: The process by which cats both inspect their surrounding and and investigate items of interest

A black cat follows him meowing loudly

Translation- "wait up!"

::slows down and waits for the other cat to catch up, then yawns widely::

*Translation: What now?*

Cat!Paige yawns back and heads over to a sunny spot, she meows at Cat!Hank

Translation "We're cat's right? I sat we curl up in a ball and sleep"

On the prowl while Kiki is in class, Jiji (http://www.welikesheep.com/archives/jiji.jpg) pauses in bewilderment.

Those are cats at the end of the hall. Cats he has never seen before. A Russian blue and... me-OW! - Quite a nice looking black female.

Jiji puts on his best saunter and wanders down the hall, feigning complete nonchalance as cats are wont to do.

::pads after cat!Paige, tail twitching gently::

::langorous stretch while purring lowly::

*Translation: Aren't laps better for that?*

::starts to nuzzle/head-bump cat!Paige, then starts batting at the air::

*Translation: Let's go find someone-- OOOH! DUST! CATCHIT!*

Cat!Paige looks up at the cat and meows, Translation-"are you in my class, I don't think we've met."

((thank you, Paige is being chatted up cats now, *dies*))

::stops batting at dust and glances sidelong at the strange black cat::

He's not in our class. A real cat?

::sits and starts calmly grooming, "ignoring" the new cat::

Cat!Paige notices the dust and follows cat!Hank to catch it.

After a short while she gets bored and starts to lick herself clean

Paige makes a confused meowing noise

Translation- "A real cat, does it know we aren't?"

"I'm Jiji," he answers. Jiji straightens up, puffing out his chest a bit. "No, I generally don't attend the classes. Sometimes Manipulation, Myth and Magic, because Kiki likes me to feed her answers so she passes. But it sounds like you attend quite often, yes? Is that what brings you over here?"

(OOC: Oops! That was supposed to be thoughts. Let's just say that Hank forgot about that whole body language betraying him thing for a sec, okay?)

::ears spring to attention, then he sneezes and goes back to grooming::

*Translation: What? How did... No, I don't think so.*

Jiji, intent on charming his lovely black-furred companion, ignores the Russian blue -

and then deflates like a pin-stabbed balloon. "You mean..." he stammers, all swagger gone, "you mean, you're not real cats?"

He looks rather like the world has been pulled out from beneath his paws. He stares at Cat!Paige, stricken. "Not... real?" he repeats faintly.

He sniffs experimentally, not wishing to offend the Lady Cat-Who-May-Not-Really-Be-A-Cat.

"Not really cats..." he concludes with a bereft sigh.

Cat!Paige nods, "I haven't noticed you in magic class, sorry. I'm a student yes, I'm only a cat sometimes."

Cat!Paige makes a pathetic mewing noise, "well we are sometimes!"

Jiji heroically rallies from the crushing disappointment.

"Ah...I see," he answers politely. "I am a cat all the time, and only a student when I have nothing better to do. Is there anything in particular you are prowling for?"

::yawns widely and stretches as he stands up, then walks over to cat!Paige, his tail flashing back and forth::

::glances at the doors to the main school, then starts to drop into a pounce-stance::

(Starts off faux-bored) *Translation: Yes, we go there. The classes are interesting/fun.*

(OOC: Since we're still learning, our "speech" is probably heavily accented and somewhat mangled. Probably very unsubtle in our mood inflections, too.)

"No, no, no offense meant," Jiji gallantly apologizes, "I am terribly sorry for my mistake. There are just so few other cats around this place. There's the journalism professor's cat, but half the time I think I'm better off staying out of the way of that pair."

"Well I liked the look of that spot in the sun to sleep in, but Hank doesn't think we should."

"we're cats twice a week," she tells him

"That is, the Professor as well as the cat himself. Although Jerusalem was quite nice to Kiki when she delivered that lava lamp to Rover. Gave her a good tip," Jiji muses. "So he certainly can't be all bad. Delivering to that tattoo parlor in town, though - Big Red and all the kits? Never thought I'd escape that place with my life and fur intact." Kiki licks down a stray tuft of fur on his paw.
