Yearbook Meeting in #305 (after Rory's meeting with the Dean)

Rory quickly cleans up room #305, throwing any and all dirty laundry into her closet.

She hangs a sign on the door:

Yearbook Meeting in HERE
If you brought food, I will love you.
Otherwise, I hope you brought ideas.

Only yearbook staff will be admitted.

Unless you're Anya, who can obviously come in and who also should be groveled to, since Rory forgot to tell her about this.

She pushes the beds as far against the walls as they'll go, in order to make more space, and waits, surveying the room.

Veronica enters. She isn't entirely comfortable with the fact that Rory is dating Logan now, but she knows she has to suck it up and be professional.

"Hey, Rory!" she says with a grin. "Congratulations on the election."

"Hey! Thanks," Rory says warmly. "How're you?"

She knows Veronica's kind of uncomfortable with the whole Logan situation...but she had been a lot nicer about it all than Lilly, and that's all that matters to Rory.

"I bring chocolate and the remainder of my crossword puzzle," Elizabeth announces, waving the box of candy.

"Not too bad. Just busy with classes and homework, you know?" She hesitates, but her good manners beat her uneasiness. "How are things going with you?"

Rory wiggles a hand to indicate 'so-so.'

"Have to visit my grandparents this weekend, which is...never really all that fun. And there're other issues, but nothing major. I'm mostly just busy being happy over the election," she says, finishing with a grin. "Did you have fun at Homecoming?"

"Ah, you are wonderful!' Rory declares. "I've got espresso brewing if you want some - go ahead and set the chocolates over there," she says, waving vaguely towards her desk.

"We've got a bit of time yet. Once a couple of the newbies arrive, I'll probably pair you and Veronica with the ones from your departments."

"Ooh, coffee," Elizabeth says, heading straight for the machine after throwing the chocolate on the desk. Taking a cup, she sniffs it and sighs happily.

"Okay, cool. I wasn't really doing much anyway... reading the paper, doing the crossword, apologizing to Professor Cregg..." She blushes.

Veronica gives her a sympathetic smile. "Try not to have too much fun this weekend."

She pauses for a moment before answering the homecoming question. "I did have fun, though I ended up leaving early so my date could hook up with someone else," she finally says quietly so no one else overhears.

Rory's brows shoot up into her hairline.

"Wow...does he know that's why you left? I mean...that's really selfess," Rory says admiringly.

"Uh oh. Why the apology?" Rory asks, quirking a brow.

Veronica shrugs.

"I don't know. I tried talking to him about the fact that I knew he liked Kara before homecoming, but he was in total denial. It's out of my hands now. Don't get me wrong, I think Lee is a great guy, but I don't want to play second fiddle to anyone."

Sonia, passing by Rory's dorm on the way back from class, notes the sign on the door. She pauses, turns back towards the stairs, and nips out for a bit. Ten minutes later, she returns, a pizza balanced on one hand, soda in the other. She knocks on the door with her foot, hoping someone will open it quickly- the pizza is burning her through the box.

Elizabeth winces.

"Let's just say that I should not be allowed near a phone after the majority of a bottle of vodka," she grins sheepishly. "She left the message in French on my answering machine, saying that she didn't know what the message was about. I don't remember what I said... nor what language I said it in." She laughs nervously. "I followed her example, and apologized in French, so at least she'll understand that."

Rory nods sympathetically. "I totally understand that. I've never been in your situation exactly...but I've been guilty of dating someone when I liked someone else. And I now realize it would've been a lot better if I'd just broken it off before anyone got hurt."

Rory opens the door with a grin. "Ah, I adore you!" she declares, taking the pizza and indicating with her head that Sonia should follow her in.

"So, how're you?" she asks, setting the pizza on her desk.

Veronica wisely does not mention that she and Logan shared their first kiss while she was still dating Leo.

"Yeah, well, I've been there too," she says, a tad uncomfortably, "and I decided it was better to stop things before they even got started to avoid it again."

"Ah," Rory says, nodding. "She's pretty cool about stuff like that, I think. She let me beg off of about a week's worth of classes because those trust games made me uncomfy, so she probably took the whole thing with a grain of salt."

"Well, she seems to like me, so hopefully it won't be too awkward tomorrow. I missed those trust game 'cuz I was ill. That's how I ended up with her assistant position. Not that I've done much yet."

"Right, right," Rory agrees, sensing that Veronica is a trifle uncomfortable with the subject matter.

"Um, well...there's coffee and soda and pizza, if you want it," she says, pointing to her desk. "And I'll probably send Marty your way, if he comes. Otherwise, I'll get in touch with you once the meeting starts about what needs to be taken care of, mmkay?"

Veronica walks over to the other side of the room and pours herself a cup.

Sonia sighs with relief as Rory takes the pizza. "Ahh, thank you. Half and half, vegetable and pepperoni...I vasn't sure vhat everyone vould want."

She sets the soda down and grins back at Rory. "Oh, sleep-deprived and confused about men, in general." She laughs. "But not bad. "How about you?"
