Gremlin Round Up

Before our parental units arrive on campus, please take the time to check your room and hallways of the dorm for gremlins. We'd like to get as many as we can to prevent any... circumstances over the weekend.

Please bring any Gremlin remains to the Common Room for proper disposal.

Marty sits in the common room with a very large trash bag, a cricket bat and a sturdy cage.

He's watching TV at the moment, but is ready for any Gremlin issues that might arise.

Kiki comes stomping into the Common Room. In one leather-gloved hand she's holding her trusty alarmingly-green bottle of mysterious unknown cleaner, and in the other she has a squirming gremlin by the scruff of the neck.

Interestingly enough, the gremlin is howling in pain, probably because where it once had feet there are now smoking stubs.

"That," she snaps at the gremlin, angrier than anybody has ever seen sweet little Kiki before, "will teach you to pull Jiji's tail!"

She throws the gremlin into the cage and, turning to Marty, says, "Feel free to hit it with the cricket bat."

As the gremlin pokes it's hand through the cage to give Kiki an obscene gesture, Marty thwaps it with his cricket bat.

"Thanks Kiki!"

Anakin comes around the corner a look of disgust on his face and three pissed-off gremlins floating in front of him.

"Think you can sneak up while I'm meditating, you little menaces?" he snarled. "If I'm going to be running naked through the dorms, it'll be because I damned well want to, not because you've bitten me." He looked up and saw Marty. "Oh," he said, blushing. "Hi."

He gestured with his hand and the gremlins began boucing up and down. "Where do you want these?"

Marty smiles and bashes the one gremlin in the cage with the end of his cricket bat, knocking it out.

He then opens up the cage for Anakin.

"Float them all in. Um... I was wondering. That whole floaty thing? Can anyone do that or are you some kind of magic guy?"

Angela looks at the sign with raised eyebrows. "We're rounding up gremlins? That's, um, probably a good idea."]

She sighs.

"Still friends, right?"

"You're welcome," Kiki says, calming down, "or rather, thank you!"

Anakin gestured angrily and the gremlins rocketed across the room, slamming into the bottom of the cage.

He wiped his hands together and smiled. "The levitating thing? I guess you'd call it magic here, but not in the wand-waving broom-riding Draco and Harry sense of the word." He yanked on his braid. "I'm not very good at explaining it. Kinda something I was born with. Where I come from, people like me can manipulate the Force--the life energy that surrounds all of us--to do stuff like levitation. It also increases our reflexes, enhances our senses, stuff like that." He gestured down at his outfit. "I'm still in training, though. My teacher who's coming for the weekend is a master at it."

Marty pokes at one of the gremlins with his cricket bat.

"Yeah. We're still friends," he says with a somewhat sullen expression on his face.

"Huh. Any chance you could teach that to say... someone else?"

Anakin lifted an eyebrow. "Like who?"

Paige walks into the common room, her hair is half crimped and she's carrying a gremlin wearing black eyeshadow

"I found this in my room, where do you want it? It was after my crimpers, despite the fact it has no hair!" she glares at it

Angela is willfully choosing to be oblivious to the sullen.

"Good. 'Cause I'd hate for it to be awkward if you run into my mom this weekend."

She watches with alarm as the gremlin's jaws open. "Um, it looks like it wants to bite."

Marty shrugs. "I don't know. Depends who has that talent you were talking about. I won't kid you and say I wouldn't want powers like that but... then again you already have like two clubs your working with."

Marty takes the bat and smashes the gremlin. Maybe a little harder than he means to. He ~~sullenly~~ steps away from the splatter and winces.

"Thanks."

He ~~sullenly~~ grabs the remains of the gremlin and ~~sullenly~~ throws it in the trash bag.

"Yeah... I'll probably run into your mom since I'm handling check-in tomorrow night. Rover is going to be there so if there's an explanation that might work for your Mom about what he is, I'll be glad to use it." Marty says ~~sullenly~~.

Marty takes the gremlin carefully and smacks it hard enough to knock it out and throws it in the cage with the others.

"Thanks Paige."

She smiles, "it was stealing my make-up and trying to wear a pair of my boots! That's just not right!"

She sighs aware she's out in public with half crimped hair and is gonna be late if she doesn't get a move on

"so what you gonna do with them?"

"High-tech scanning device?" Angela suggests hopefully, stepping around the gremlin splatter. She lowers her voice. "There's no way Mom will be okay with everything here. I'm just going to have to, like, fake it, make stuff up, and hope I don't end up back in Pittsburgh on Monday."

She bites her lip. "Um, I'm going back to my room. See you, okay?"

Anakin flopped down onto a nearby sofa. "I'm not sure it really translates to this world. I mean, the Force is everywhere, but I haven't really noticed anyone else on campus that would be able to do what I do. I'm not sure I would even be able to show some of the other magical beings here how to do it." He groaned. "It's in the blood, you see. To be Force-sensitive--that's what we call it--you have to have a certain number of midi-clorians. The more midi-clorians, the more Force-sensitive you are. And it's certainly not that common a gift where I come from."

He stared at his boots for a moment. "I'm not explaining this very well. It's ten thousands generations of science and mythology all mixed together. I've only been studying it for eight years."

He looked at Marty. "It's not that I wouldn't be willing to teach it. It's just that I don't think anyone could learn the practical aspects of Force-manipulation."

Marty shrugs and tosses Anakin a soda.

"That's okay. Religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good ~~blaster~~ gun at your side." Marty says in good humor as he smacks one of the gremlins trying to get out of the cage."

Marty sulleness drops a level or two because he always thought Angela was cute whenever she bit her lip like that.

"Yeah. If there's anything I can do to run interference for your Mom or your sister... let me know okay?"

Anakin caught the soda easily. "Guns? How uncivilized." He turned his head, glowered and raised his hand. Another gremlin came floating in from the hallway. "They're just asking to get caught today, aren't they?"

"Oh I'm going to give them to Rover and he'll do that weird disappearing thing he does to whatever he rolls over."

Marty stands up and gets into a batter's stance with his cricket bat.

"Toss him over."

"But doesn't that just move them?" she asking looking a little worried "Actually never mind I have to finish getting ready there's a goth night at the new club in town."

"Hey Marty, need any help?"
