Around the dorms, Thursday evening
Outside Veronica's room
Moral, unwound and unfilled with glitter, was propped against the wall next to the door, with a note taped to his chest:
Just in case you need him. He's still programmed to follow Belthazor.
Guess if you have him, I can't get in trouble, right?
Thank you. For everything.
--Nadia
Outside Pip's room
Nadia's guitar was propped against the door frame, along with the travel amp and a note:
Thank you for the lessons. In guitar and everything else. I won't forget them.
--Nadia
Outside Walter's room
There is an envelope taped to the door. In it is fifty dollars in cash and a note:
You wouldn't tell me how much the boots were. In Argentina, I think they might have been this much.
Thank you. For everything. I can't say that enough. You don't have to worry about me any more, though.
You've been a very good friend.

Maybe it was the drugs.
He put his giggling shoes back on and went to look for Nadia, starting with her room.

But she was mentally, physically and emotionally exhaused, so, instead she made a mental note to call Nadia first thing in the morning.
