After an unsettling discussion with Victor, Walter couldn't focus on the homework he said he'd be doing. In fact, what he wanted was a cigarette. Or ten.

She splashes to a stop next to Walter.
"So what has you out here... In the rain?"

"So earlier today Alfred gave me orders to go do something 'reckless and foolish.' The man is growing on me."

She stopped for a moment. Wiggling her toes on the wet pavement, water dripped off the ends of her braids.
"And prom is comming up. But I don't have a date. I suspect one is supposed to have a date for such things as proms."

"It's an American thing, I've been reading up on it." she said starting to dance in place, "Personally? I think it's just an excuse to sell flowers."

Pippi danced thoughfully for a moment.
"Ummm... I'm not sure." she said, "If it's anything like the dances or parties Annika used to go to, I think I'm supposed to wait until somebody asks me to go with them."
