Thursday, Noon, Gym

Just because you've recently involved in two combat operations is no excuse to be off your exercise routine.

Especially when your friend who can summon water using only the power of his mind has already patched you up quite well with his magical mystical powers.

After a brief run, Pip hit the bag. Figuratively. Althought it could also be literally.

Point is, he's in the gym, hitting the full body bag.

Jamie walked and headed to the cardio machines and gave a wave to the guy in the eyepatch. "Hey. How's it going?"

Pip waved back. "Hey... guy who looks really familiar but I can't seem to place. Have we met?"

"Screaming girl in the hallway," Jamie reminded him. "Don't think we exchanged names. Jamie Madrox."

"Right. Pip Bernadette. You one of the new students?"

"Yep. That's me. New guy," Jamie said stretching out. "You?"

"Nah, I'm an old, bitter, cynical veteran. Been here since January." He kicked the bag. "Adjusted to the weirdness yet?"

"Well where I came from had some pretty weird stuff happening already, so it wasn't too hard to adjust," Jamie said starting up on the ellipitcal machine. "How was the adjustment period for you?"

"Well, where I came from," Pip said, "We didn't have too much weird stuff happening. At least, not in the sense of vampires and werewolves and demons and mutants and whatever. I've just seen a lot of bizzare, terrible mundane stuff in my life that it wasn't too horrible a transition. Still took some getting used to, though."

"Yeah well other than my roommate getting the snot beaten out of her by her possessed friends the stranges thing that has happened to me is taking of my shirt."

Pip stopped in mid-kick. "Wait, you're Nadia's roommate?"

"Yep that's me," Jamie said with a grin. "Nice girl. Don't worry I've already been threatened by her brother and sister if anything should happen to her."

"...Brother and sister?" Pip said. "I was under the impression that Nadia was an only child.

He dropped his still hovering foot to the floor only to bring it up and kick the bag again.

"Really? Huh. Well they sure seemed protective of her," Jamie said with a shrug. "I've seen less tenacity in pit bulls."

Pip laughed. "Probably someone on the long list of people who'd kill Walter if he ever hurt Nadia."

Slam.

"Other than the broken bones? Seems to me the girl can handle herself for the most part. The day I met her she put a mallet to my head."

"Well, yeah. She can. I was there when she got that damn mallet. Still, it's kind of a traditional thing. Especially considering that most people around here are demons or vampries or mutants or mercenaries or trained vamprie hunters, etc."

"They really don't kid around in the brochure when they talk about student diversity," Jamie said getting off the treadmill and heading over to the weight machine.

Pip had to laugh at that one. "Alright then," he said, steadying the bag. "If you're not insulted by me asking, what makes you so... "diverse"?"

"Mutant," Jamie explained as he started his reps. "I can duplicate myself if need be."

"Neat," Pip said. "Does it ever get confusing, talking to yourself?"

"Actually it's a little dull. You always know what the other is going to say. If they aren't sporting an attitude."

Pip laughed. "Well, I'll suppose I'll take your word for it, being less "diverse" myself."

"You mean you are something other than being French?" Jamie asked. "Or are you just pretending to have an accent."

"Oh no, the accent's real. I'm French," Pip said. "I also know like.... thirty-five ways to kill a person with my bare hands. The numbers go increasingly higher if you start giving me weapons. Which reminds me, Walter still owes me for replacing my guns."

"Well I'd call that pretty diverse," Jamie said as he finished up his weight routine. "It was nice meeting your formally Pip."
