Second Floor Common Room, Sunday Evening

His roommate was hosting a movie night in their floor's common room, but Conner was in the mood for some soccer. He'd missed all of yesterday's televised World Cup games thanks to detention, which he considered nothing short of a crime, but he wasn't going to miss any more today if he could help it. Well, he'd missed all the live World Cup coverage for the day, but there was a D.C. United vs. Los Angeles Galaxy game on tonight and that was better than no soccer at all.

So he headed down to shamelessly hijack the second floor common room, laptop and USB mini-aquarium in hand. Kira's CD that he'd picked up at Empire Records today was in the DVD drive of the laptop, and he turned that on low as he waited for Fox Sports West (yay for having every channel in existence) to get past the commercial break and start with the broadcast already.

With the USB mini-aquarium bubbling away beside him, he put his feet up on the table and waited impatiently.

Xander wandered in with Bridge, still blinking over the sign they'd passed in the stairwell. "Tell me again why I'm supposed to care...or mind, I guess... that Molly and Cam are going out?"

Bridge shrugs. "I think she's got all these like, big-siblingy types that are being all overprotective and stuff, and giving Cam a hard time, or something."

"Dude," Conner said absently, "I have no idea. I don't even think I've met 'em."

"Huh. I mean, I busted on Angel constantly when he was going out with Buffy, but hi, vampire. Plus okay jealousy issues, but anyway." Xander frowns, because he's pretty sure he hadn't meant to throw that last bit in, but then he shrugs. "Cam's kinda a good-guy type, though. You think it's just 'cause he's older than her?"

Yeah, he's been thinking about that one, a little.

Xander waved. "I have, and it's not like it's a huge surprise, 'cause they've got kind of an oh-just-kiss-already vibe going. But the posters in the stairwells are, uh. A unique approach?"

Bridge frowns too. "It could be," he says uneasily. "I mean, it can't be because she's a girl and he's a guy, because that's all outdated and sexist and besides, she's got, like super-strength."

"Yeah, that's kinda new," Conner agreed. "Making posters, that is. I mean, yeah, there was this girl back in Reefside and I definitely did some stupid things to get her to notice me. Seriously, can you picture me at an environmental protest? I made signs and everything, and now I kind of don't even think about her at all."

Hello, awkward and random segue into things he so did not intend to mention. Because the whole fiasco with what's-her-name and the tree was not his best moment by a long shot.

"Which okay, Buffy does too," Xander says a little guiltily, "but I repeat, vampire. If it's just the age thing, though..." He does a little counting, and luckily runs out of years before he has to start using his splinted fingers. "He's only what, like two years older? There's more difference between you and me than there is Molly and Cam, but nobody's complained about that. That I know of, anyway."

Xander coughed. "Well, yeah. Not without my dumb girl-moments. There was this whole love-spell thing back home that, okay, was kinda flattering when every female in town started coming on to me? But it got a little scary when it started including people's moms, even if she was hot. And then later the axes."

This... was possibly overshare on Xander's part.

"Nobody's said anything to me, either." Bridge says with a shrug. "Well, Willow. Squared. But that's it."

That might've been a scowl that flickered across Bridge's face when Xander mentioned the love-spell. It was quickly replaced by a concerned frown at the mention of axes, though.

"Yeah, but that's Willow. She'd have done that if I was dating Mother Theresa." Xander blinks. "Well, no, she'd probably be too busy having me committed to threaten the small dead nun."

After hanging out in the fifth floor common room for a while, Xander is struck with the urge to wander a bit. So heads for the second floor common room, since he's heard it's supposed to be one of the more popular ones, or something.

His expression when he catches sight of two of the occupants of the room somehow manages to be both irritated and embarassed at the same time.

After detention with Becky and Miho yesterday? Conner got some very, very interesting -- and traumatizing -- mental images from that.

"Yeah, I hear love spells are sort of -- axes? There wasn't a whole black-and-white thing going on here, was there?"

"Hey, Bly," says Conner, opting for the last-name route just to avoid confusion. "You okay?"

"Black and white?" Xander shook his head. "No. They just went kinda crazy and each decided if they couldn't have me, nobody was gonna."

"I would've paid for something like that to happen to me, once," Conner told him. "Without the axes, of course."

"Well, I *was*..." Xander answers honestly, and scowls a bit in the direction of the other Xander and that Bridge guy.

"Riiiiiiiiiight," Conner says slowly. "What'd they ever do to you, anyway?"

"Yeah, at first I thought so too. But by the time we hit my best friend's boyfriend coldcocking me because she ended up in my bed? And, um, my shirt... I was pretty sure the experience wasn't all it was cracked up to be."

Xander blinks, and turns his head to look at the not-him Xander. "Yeeeeehuh what now?"
