Second Floor Common Room, Saturday Afternoon

After a handwavy trip into town for ingredients, Sam took the carefully printed recipe out of her pocket and laid it on the counter. She'd memorized it by now, but she figured it wouldn't hurt to get some practice in before the workshop.

The fact that the recipe didn't involve an open flame? Well, that was just being prudent.

"So, double boiler...." She began hunting for the appropriate hardware.

"'Cause I'm makin' it," Jude grinned. "And it's made on Canada Day. Or I could find a moose mold somewhere. Or I could sing while makin it." He started collecting ingredients.

"Hmm, 'Canada's Really Big', or 'Proud to Be Canadian'. Or the moose song. Or . . ." He thought for a long moment. "Dunno. Something by Stompin' Tom. 'Bud the Spud' or 'The Good Old Hockey Game'."

Jude laughed. "I'm not surprised. The Arrogant Worms and Stompin' Tom Conners are kinda Canadian injokes." He continued mixing ingredients as he started to sing. "Hello out there, we're on the air, it's hockey night tonight. Tension grows, the whistle blows, and the puck goes down the ice . . ."

Jude's voice even took on the nasal twang of the musical icon as he continued singing about the good old hockey game, the best game you can name, goalies, players, penalties, and a chance to win the drink.

He also managed to almost knock over almost everything he was using.

"Um, thanks," Jude said sheepishly, cleaning up quickly. He had tried to, and did, catch most of the bottles and containers when he had dropped them. "Told ya I was clumsy."

He shrugged modestly. "I know, it's not the coolest thing for a guy to know how to do, but it's pretty fun."

"True," Jude grinned. "Glad you think so."

"Yeah, our first date I made a bunch of picnic stuff," he replied. "And I save some of whatever we make in our workshop for her."

"We got rained out so had to change plans, but it still ended up being pretty nice." Jude's ears went a little pink at the memory of that night.

"Dunno. Depends on my parents. I mean, if they're still pissed off about my marks I'm totally staying here, but if they aren't they might bring me home. But I want to stay," he decided. "At least, I think I do. It's all kinda confusing. Miss home, like it here, y'know."

"You make it sound like a bad thing," he grinned.

Jude nodded seriously. "I totally think you guys need trading cards or something with all the stuff I've been warned about."
