After a handwavy trip into town for ingredients, Sam took the carefully printed recipe out of her pocket and laid it on the counter. She'd memorized it by now, but she figured it wouldn't hurt to get some practice in before the workshop.

The fact that the recipe didn't involve an open flame? Well, that was just being prudent.

"So, double boiler...." She began hunting for the appropriate hardware.

"It happens. Looks like you have a good idea what you're doing, though."

He shrugged modestly. "I know, it's not the coolest thing for a guy to know how to do, but it's pretty fun."

"Who says its not a cool thing for a guy?" Sam asked. "I'd totally go for a guy who knows how to cook, especially since I'm hopeless. And most chefs are guys, too."

"True," Jude grinned. "Glad you think so."

"I'm sure I'm not the only one. Have you cooked for your girlfriend yet?"

"Yeah, our first date I made a bunch of picnic stuff," he replied. "And I save some of whatever we make in our workshop for her."

Sam nodded. "Smart. I had someone make me a picnic, too. It was really nice."

"We got rained out so had to change plans, but it still ended up being pretty nice." Jude's ears went a little pink at the memory of that night.

"So, are you here for the summer, or are you staying on for the school year?" Sam asked, seeing the pink ears and deciding to change the subject.

"Dunno. Depends on my parents. I mean, if they're still pissed off about my marks I'm totally staying here, but if they aren't they might bring me home. But I want to stay," he decided. "At least, I think I do. It's all kinda confusing. Miss home, like it here, y'know."

"Yeah," she nodded, "once this place gets into your system, you're stuck."

"You make it sound like a bad thing," he grinned.

Sam grinned back. "No, you just need to know what you're getting into."

Jude nodded seriously. "I totally think you guys need trading cards or something with all the stuff I've been warned about."

"Trading cards?" Sam asked.

Jude nodded. "Yeah. Gremlins, zombies, snow monsters, teal deer . . ." He grinned. "Giant dragons made of Jell-o. Definitely enough material for a card game."

"That's brilliant," Sam decided. "I wish I could draw. Or maybe we could use photographs. Hmmm..."

"I think Pippi-bra has a bunch of footage of stuff, we could always get some still-frames from that."

"We could be the new craze that sweeps the card game market."

Sam glanced around the kitchen. "And then we could hire someone to do our cooking for us."

Jude laughed. "Aww, but I kinda like doin' my own cooking."

"Well, then you can do your own, and I'll be lazy." Sam grinned. "So, if you're not hiring a cook, what are you doing with all your millions?"

"Building a skatepark the size of Toronto Island," he said after a moment of consideration.
