The roof, Thursday evenin

Nadia hit the roof in the evening as it started to get relatively cool. She propped her laptop up on her knees and stared vaguely at her adventure story.

Elena, Mario, and Calliope had escaped the Nazi zeppelin with the aid of the intrepid mercenary, Pippin. They were now sailing across the sea on Penelope's ship, searching for an elusive siren maiden, Phillipa. Elena had just dived off the edge of the boat after Phillipa, while Penelope and Pippin were "occupied" below decks, and Mario and Calliope were shouting encouragement.*

Trouble was, Phillipa just didn't want to be caught, and Nadia wasn't sure how to get her to the point where she would be.

*At Elena. Not at Penelope and Pippin. Not to say they weren't encouraging of Penelope and Pippin, but just not in person.

[ooc: open. I'm borrrrrrrred, come play with me and encourage the further adventures of Elena and her gang! Also, I'm optimistic that I will SOMEHOW be online this evening.]

Seras huffed onto the roof and flopped down.

It would be safe to say that yes, she was sulking.

"Homework?" Penelope Pippi asked as she climbed up over the edge of the roof.

"Your observations skills are remarkable. Small wonder you were accepted into spy school."

Seras sighed and scuffed the roof with her sneaker.

"Ever tried to convince a hooker that you *weren't* naked in All and Sudries?"

"Oh! You writin' that story you don't want anybody to read yet?"

[identity profile] union-jane.livejournal.com 2006-08-03 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah...Well apparently not every squirrel (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/962830.html?thread=51162382#t51162382) in fandom is noble."

Seras glared of into the distance for a few moments, possibly plotting squirrely wrath, then turned back to Nadia.

"So, how've you been?"

Pippi was really curious what it was Nadia was writing, but she didn't want to be rude.

"Nice night..." she said swinging her feet off the side.

"You mean Phoebe or mermaids in general?"

[identity profile] union-jane.livejournal.com 2006-08-03 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"Neither was I!"

Yes, the lament was getting old, but it was the principle of the thing, blast it.

"Right...well, I'll admit that the outfit was somewhat...questionable in taste, but that was all they gave me to wear."

[identity profile] strongestgirl.livejournal.com 2006-08-03 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well, as much as I hate to say it... Phoebe knows and trusts us... And people have been bringing her food so... We may need to slip her a Mickey-Finn in something if it seems like she's going to swim off before this can be fixed." she said thoughtfully.

"If you're talking about a mermaid that doesn't know and trust you it's rather more tricky."

[identity profile] union-jane.livejournal.com 2006-08-03 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"'They' were the...attendants in the, um, the Women's Quarters. And, I guess they just get to decide what everyone wears. That seemed to be the case, anyhow."

[identity profile] union-jane.livejournal.com 2006-08-03 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"The attendants in the Women's Quarters."

Then, it clicked.

"I got sucked into a book of Arabian Fairytales on Saturday night. I got out again on Monday, though, really, it seemed to take a bit longer..."

[identity profile] strongestgirl.livejournal.com 2006-08-03 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"Mickey-Finn." Pippi repeated. "Or just 'Mickey'... He was a guy used to shang-hi people to be pressed into service on merchant ships. He'd get a guy really drunk, or put something in their drinks or food to make them sleep or weak, then sell them to unscrupulous Captains. When they came to, they'd be out to sea and have no choice but to work on the ship."

"As for mermaids in general, many have tried... I suppose you'd need bait, because mermaids are known to like to cause shipwrecks. So maybe a ship full of handsome sailors? It would be vary dangerous to get the ship close enough to one to catch it... Maybe a handsome sailor fallen overboard... He'd be in danger of being drowned."

Pippi leaned back on her hands and looked up at the sky.
