4th floor common room: Early Wednesday evening

Lana curled up on the couch and flipped through channels aimlessly, before giving up and reading instead. She was finding it hard to focus on any one thing and hoped that if she hung out in the common room people would come distract her.

"There isn't crap on my tv downstairs, how's yours?" Maia said flopping down on a squashy chair near Lana.

"Maia, hey!" Lana smiled at her friend. "Nothing I wanted to watch here. So how have you been? I never see you anymore."

"I've been good. Yeah, I tried to avoid the cabins as much as possible, didn't want a clinic trip a second time around. How have you been?"

"I'm good," Lana said with a grin. "Enjoying the workshops and the summer."

"Oh yeah the workshops are great. I had cooking last time and this time I have astrology and sex ed. Have you heard from Shep or Han?" The last name said with some hope attached to it. Maia missed Han.

Lana's grin faded a little. "Not Han, no." She bit her lip. "I really miss him."

"But..." the grin brightened again, "If you'd been around a little more I'd have told you that I went to DC to see Shep 2 weekends ago."

"OH MY GOD DID YOU?" Maia practically bounced out of the arm chair. "How is he? What's he doing? OOOooo I wish I had known I would have sent on a present with you...some legos or something."

Tim had missed the whole common room atmosphere during his week away, and again took up his habit of wandering to see who was about.
"Hey." he greeted the occupants as he entered.

"I did and he's great and what he's doing is classified and well... if you really want to send him something..." Lana beamed even more. "He's taking me to San Diego this weekend. Leaving Friday afternoon and getting back Wednesday morning."

"Tim, hey! I haven't seen you in a while!" Lana greeted him with a smile.

"Really?" Maia said perking up even more practically bouncing now. "Oh yeah can I? Oh I know the perfect set to get him. It's this little set with these two men in grey battling aliens. Oh it's perfect." Maia was almost floating now, "So several days...with Shep...all snuggly and classified..." She wiggled her eyebrows. "Sounds divine."

"It was and I bet it will be," Lana said with a smug look. "I can't wait."

"Mmmhmmm, you know I have some flavored whipped cream left over from class. I bet with those handcuffs we got the week before last, it'd be a smashing combination." She winked before leaning back into the chair.

Maia nodded to the newcomer. "Hi there." She said with another nod.

Lana blushed. "Actually, I have my own pair in the goody bags we made up the day before I went to see him. Though, I wasn't quite brave enough to... you know."

"Ah really?" Maia said drawing her knees up into the chair. "I've never used them either. I might though, I keep them around just in case. Maybe you could take them and then 'oops what fell out of my bag Shep?' with innocent eyes and see what his reaction is." Maia said thoughtfully as if Lana's seduction of Shep with handcuffs required her full on attention at hand.

Lana blushed even more furiously. "We'll see. I think they'd make me too nervous to relax, you know?"

"Yeah, I see your point. You don't want to be all nervous when you've just got a few days together. Handcuffs might be for like a longer break maybe..." She nodded "So other then that what have you been up to? Work going ok?"

"Work's good," Lana said with a smile. "Usually quiet though. And I haven't been doing much. Hanging out with Phoebe - who is no longer a mermaid, thank God. I stop in at Caritas once in a while. But pretty much I've kept to myself, I guess. Pretty boring."

"Is that green guy still there? He wouldn't serve me a drink the last time I went in. Said my I.D. was a fake..." She shook her head "Wait, what Phoebe was a mermaid?...Where have I been?"

"Lorne? No, he's been gone, gosh, for ages. And yeah, Phoebe was a mermaid for most of last week. Spell gone wrong. She turned human again just in time to get caught with a bunch of us in that semi-mind-swap thing."

Lana blushed again. "I ended up thinking I was Briar, of all people."

"I wasn't anybody." Maia said with a laugh, "Thank God, I'm already messed up enough up here." She said, "What was it like being someone else?"

"Well, I wasn't exactly. I just thought I was. And it was very weird. I felt all awkward about having the wrong, well... parts. And I flirted with people. Girls."

Maia raised an eyebrow at this. "Were you any good, at flirting with girls I mean?" She said with a smirk. "You had all his parts too...oh whoa...what was that like..." Maia shuddered a little. "I'm quite attached to all my bits and pieces."

"I don't know. You'd have to ask Pippi. And Phoebe - or rather Bel, 'cause he thought he was Phoebe when I thought I was Briar and was flirting with him. Her."

Lana blushed again. "No, no, no! I was in my own body, this body. Briar just missed certain of his... parts."
