Bel might've been slightly hungover.

It might've been because he'd been craving sushi last night and had shimmered to an off-island Japanese restaurant to pick some up. Along with sake.

A lot of sake.

Now he was flipping through channels on the TV, trying desperately to find something to distract him from the pounding in his head. The Science Fiction channel had a natural disaster movie marathon on; that had potential.

Pippi flounces happily into the common room.

"Good morning!"

Bel whimpered and buried his head under a convenient couch pillow.

"Awwww. What's wrong Bel? Are ya sick?" Pippi asked leaning over the back of the couch.

"Hungover," he admitted, peeking out from behind the pillow. "Sake. Lots of sake."

"Hot or cold?"

"Cold," Bel said. "I lost track of how much."

"Would you like some breakfast?" Pippi asked. How a nice greasy sausage sandwich served in a dirty ash tray?"

Bel mentally examined his stomach. "Yes?" he said hopefully.

"Pancakes?" she asked.

You love it.

"Yes, please."

The mun is hungover too. Evil, I repeat, evil.

"Okay." she said getting things started at the kitchenette.

"So what was the occasion?"

Oops!!! Okay so there's this thing where you separate the real person from the character they play and that's what I was doing there. :P I'm sorry, I wouldn't have done that.

"Sushi," Bel said. "A craving for sushi." He paused. "No mermaid jokes, please."

Pippi was actually trying to formulate some sort of joke regarding Bel having a craving for eel but it didn't work out so she left that unsaid as well.

"Is there a good sushi place around here?"

Bel shook his head. "I went off island. There are some good restaurants on the mainland."

"Really?" she asked. "I never been to the mainland other then that tailor shop we went to. How's the nightlife?"

"Not bad," Bel said. "A little more wild than Caritas. Then again, no jello dragons, demons, or pudding storms."

"Other then you that is." Pippi said. "Which is okay."

She finished making the batter and started pouring it out onto the cast iron griddle set up on the stove top.

Bel's stomach rumbled. "That smells good," he said, praying he could keep breakfast down.

"Thank you." Pippi said. "You should probably just try them plain, but I'm told blueberries are okay if you're hung over."

"Blueberries sound okay to me," Bel said, growing even more hungry now. Bacon or sausage were probably right out, but pancakes should be safe.

Pippi added some blueberries to the "raw" side of the pancakes before flipping them.

"So... How far can you shimmer?"

"All the way to the other side of the planet," Bel said proudly. "And through dimensions. Not so much time, unless it flows differently in the other dimension."

"Wow... That's very far."

"I've never tried to go off planet," Bel said. "Never had reason to, and I still need air and everything. I need to breathe."

"I wouldn't know another planet to visit... I once told Tommy and Annika that I went to the moon... But I didn't actually go."
