First Floor Lobby - Early Friday Morning

Marie was up early and slightly nervous.

One could surmise she was nervous about traveling to a different planet and flying a real live spaceship. One could surmise she was nervous about the fact that, while she was toting an overnight bag and would apparently be gone for almost two days, she'd actually be back in time for lunch and that kind of freaked her out.

One could surmise any of those things and be somewhat accurate.

But she was more nervous about running into Charlie or Jamie after the conversation she had with Willow yesterday.

Hey, a girl's gotta have priorites.

So at the moment, she's toting her overnight bag through the lobby, on her way to grab breakfast before her trip, hoping not to run into anyone.

Unfortunately, Fandom seemed to hate Marie because Charlie was just sneaking back in with a bag of something that looked and smelled like pastries, but were in no way pastries because those were fattening and he was totally behaving himself.

Yep.

"Hey!" he greeted.

"Just went to get breakfast," he replied with a grin. "Um, for Cam. He likes his very unhealthy pastries."

Kawalsky was bad at lying about things that weren't important secrets. "Okay, they're for me, just don't tell Sam. I told her I'm meant to be on a health kick. Anyway, what are you doing up so early?"

"I remember now. That time thing is weird though. So I guess I'll see you after lunch but tomorrow for you?"

Oooh ominous words. "Sure, you can tell me anything."

There was a silence before Charlie spoke next. "Oh." He tried to sound upbeat. "Okay." He tried to think of what else he could say to that. "Um, yeah, I'd like to still be friends." He was disappointed, but they'd only been out once. It wasn't like they were married or really even properly dating.

He shrugged. "It's okay. Really. I don't suppose.." He waved a hand. "It's okay, I won't ask." He smiled, then rubbed at the back of his head. "Um, still, I'll see you after lunch or tomorrow or whatever, yeah?"

Charlie hesitated. "Who's the other guy?" He added quickly, "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to."

Charlie couldn't hide a small smile, but he bit back on it quickly.

"'Course I don't hate you," he assured her, feeling less bruised now that he knew who he was losing out to. "You gonna tell him?"

He grinned. "Good. Don't worry. Jamie's a good guy. And sometimes you've just gotta go for what you want. Now I'm gonna stop sounding like my dad all lecturey and stuff and go sneak breakfast past the noses of the second floorers. Have a good trip, Marie. Don't forget souveniers!"
