4th Floor Hallway [Tuesday Afternoon]

Since Syd's departure her dorm room has been surprisingly lonely. So Mac has taken a couple of fat beanbags from her newly all-her-own room, a large mug of coffee, and her laptop and has taken up residence in the fourth floor hallway.

She has sustainance, her laptop jingling music at her... and the company of anyone passing by. It's way better than being sat in her dorm room all on her own.

Mac's next door neighboor poked his head out the door. "You're still around!"

"Broots!" Mac grinned, and waved him over. "and yup, still here. Have been all summer. Come join the corridor revolution. You like coffee and cookies?"

Lavender is on the floor above hers for some reason her player isn't clear on.

"Um, hi" she said with a little wave. "Roommate drive you out?"

"Who doesn't like coffee and cookies?" Broots grabbed his laptop and sat down by Mac. "Good to know I'm not the only person who lives in their room!"

"Oh, no. Just the opposite. My roomie left at the end of the summer." Mac shrugged, "It's weird being in there on my own, so... " she gestured at her beanbags, "this is my solution."

"I just don't know, but those who are, must be crazy." Mac pulled out her thermos and poured Broots a mug handing it to him and waving her hand at the box of cookies. "Help yourself. They're vegan, just so you know, if they taste funny it's not 'cause I poisoned them."

Broots toasted her with the coffee and grabbed a cookie. "I live on a mixture of Ramen noddles and food from the cafeteria, even if you poisoned them, I wouldn't have noticed."

"Yeah, having a room to yourself would be weird. I had two roommates at my old school. Mind if I join you?" She gestured to the beanbags.

"Roommate is out. Probably hugging a tree or getting even more confused about sex."

"I live on... mostly whatever I can make in the common room and Salads. The cafeteria has a distinct lack of Vegan stuffs. Cookies are by far the easiest, and best tasting."

"So catch me up, how's your summer been?" Mac asked, taking a bite of her cookie.

"Pull up a beanbag, grab a cookie. You like coffee?" Mac patted the space beside her, "I'm Mac. You're new here, right?"

Lavender giggles. "Well this much better than that."

Lavender settled herself down on the beanbag and grabbed a cookie. "I love coffee but I drink it this late I'll be up all night."

"Yup, I'm Lavender. I just got here yesterday."

Mac laughed, "Oh, I am up all night. I'm just like that. Everything interesting happens after midnight."

"Well, welcome. You liking it here so far?" Mac asked with a grin. "Not been freaked out beyond belief yet?"

"I'm still on London time so my internal clock is all confused. I'm used to having a strick curfew."

"Umm well I ran into some one from my old school who's dead where I'm from so, yeah, that was a bit odd. And I've been warned there's other things around as well. But I think it helps that I'm used to magic."

"What about you? Been at fandom long?"

"Well, the first thing I was told when I got here, was that the cafeteria food has people in it." Mac shrugged, "I think that may have been a lie, but I'd stay away from it all the same," she pulled a face as she spoke portraying her disgust.

"I've been here since January, so I'm pretty used to the insanity that goes on round here. Seems that you're pretty up on the whole magic thing, and handling the insanity a little better than I did."

"They are good. And let's see...spent half the summer with my sister and parents in the Carribean. Came back more than a little sunburned. And then just ... existed. You?"

"So...you're new?"

"Carribean. Seriously? Wow, nice. Can't picture you as the sunbather-type though."

"I spent my entire summer here," Mac added. "It was nice, kinda quiet, but at least I was doing something productive rather than hanging out in Neptune where my brother drives me up the wall 24/7."

"Cannibalism in the dining hall? That's new to me. My room has a kitchenette so I'll have to make use of that." Lavender misses house elves.

"Where are you from? You're American right?" Lavender asked judging by her accent.

"Yup, just arrived yesterday." She offers a hand to shake. "I'm Lavender Brown. I've just moved here from Britain."

"I'm not." Broots grumbled. "And sounds like my sister. How old?"

Marie wandered down the hallway and decided to stop and be social.

"Hi," she said with a smile.

"J.C. Broots. Er...just Broots is fine. I'm from about twenty minutes away. 2006." He specified.

"I just make food in the common rooms. They kitchens there aren't so bad. My friend Izzie and I used to go and make cookies all the time." Mac sighed, it was starting to hit her just how many of her friends just aren't here anymore. "Anyway, I'm vegan, so the cafeteria just doesn't work for me."

"Oh, I'm from California. Place called Neptune. To be honest, I'm quite glad to be out of there."
