The Roof, Thursday night

After work Thursday night, Walter wasn't in the mood to be indoors. The rain from earlier in the day had stopped, so he sat up on the edge of the roof with a cigarette and his CD player, listening to the Stray Cats.

He was not brooding, introspecting, or emoing. He was just enjoying the night air and some fairly upbeat music.

After bringing Phoebe safely home from Caritas for the night, Bel headed up to the roof for a cigarette. "Hey, Walter," he said in greeting as he summoned a fireball and lit up.

"That had better be Pippi," Walter said, leaning forward to make sure something wasn't about to pull him to his death.

"Hey." He shook his head at the fireball and grinned. "Convenient that."

Nadia wandered up to the roof, her guitar strapped to her back in deference to Pippi's shock the night before, despite the fact that she didn't really have plans to practice yet.

"Hey." Walter turned away from the edge and smiled up at her. "How's tricks?"

Cally had come up here to check on her little project.

"Ooooh, it's done," she said, mainly to herself.

Tyler liked the roof, so he climbed up there to think and see what was going on. "Interesting music," he said.

"The rain?" Walter asked innocently.

"The booze," Cally said. "Though I ain't trying it til I know if it's not dangerous. It might be a one way ticket to the clinic, or the morgue."

"Yes. I think Nadia may be despairing of getting me into the current century music-wise." He turned around and nodded to Tyler. "I haven't seen you in a while. How're things?"

Nadia shrugged. "Not bad. It's been a bit of a quiet day."

"Of course I would," Walter said, leaning back again after hearing her voice.

"Unless you were a teacher." Not much good trying the innocent look.

Nadia raised an eyebrow. "And what excitement did the teachers get?"

Walter grinned. "That's what Joxer and Pete Hutter are for, right?"

"Never have to worry about needing a lighter," Bel grinned.

"I haven't been that social," Tyler shrugged. "But things are okay. Went home last weekend. Other than that it's just class."

"I hear there might have been a plague of gremlins in the offices this morning," he said, adding, "Plastic ones."

Tyler whirled to the scrabbling noise. "Berthold?"

"Really. Because I haven't heard anything about that. How did you find out?"

"Hopefully it won't kill 'em," Cally said. "I think I might get expelled, in that instance."

"There is that. And burning down houses in Hunting class," Walter said. "And how are things for you otherwise?"

"Hm... maybe I'm doing homework for Good Omens."
