Third Floor Common Room, Wednesday evening

Walter was making pie and watching Wednesday night TV. This criminal forensics show was gruesomely fascinating.

It went well with making pie dough. Eventually the pie dough would become apple pies and shepherd's pies, and because it's a dorm tradition, everyone could have some.

Nadia wandered slowly upstairs after her conversation with Jake and smelled food type things on the third floor, so of course, that's where she went. She grinned when she saw Walter. "Hey, you,"

Walter looked up from rolling out a round of dough and grinned back. "Hey. What's new?"

"It's amazing the conversations you can have in this place if you really try." Nadia walked up behind him. "Want any help?"

Bel wandered through, having managed to retain his human form after Hunting 101. "Hey," he said.

"You can roll out more dough if you want," Walter suggested. "Or peel apples. What sort of amazing conversations have you been having?"

"Hey, Bel." Walter pointed a floury finger toward the TV. "It's not wrestling, but it's occasionally graphic."

Summer noticed there were people in the common room on her floor. So she wandered in. "Hi."

"Oh, everything." Nadia started rinsing and peeling apples while she talked. "I talked to Tyler about running for student council and Blair about his protests, and Pippi about . . . student council, but that was more about whether or not they actually do anything and Jake about spies and couriers and stuff."

"Blood and guts are cool," Bel said, peering at the screen.

Walter looked up from his dough and smiled. "Hello. I'm surprised there are still new people I haven't met. I'm Walter."

"Oooh pie!" Lavender bounced into the common room.

"I'm Summer. Nice to meet you," she said, also smiling. "What are you making?"

Walter nodded and started cutting out a circle of dough. "I like it. I can't tell how much of this is like rocket ship fiction, though."

"Dinner and dessert," Walter said with a smile. "Good evening, Lavender."

"Pie. Shepherd's pie for dinner and apple pie for dessert." He spread a round of dough out in a pie pan. "If you're around when it comes out of the oven, you're welcome to some."

"Hi, Walter. How're you." She smiled at the pie. "What kinds are you making?"

"Hi! I'm Lavender I don't believe we've met."

"Guess I'll have to make sure I'm still around then," Summer said with a grin. "I'm not gonna turn down free food, especially dessert."

"I don't think we have," Summer agreed. "I'm Summer."

"What are you making?" Bel asked casually. Because, hey, free food possibly.

"I'm from London, 1996 and I'm a witch. You?" Lavender recited the list as if she'd done it a million times since she arrived in fandom.

"It sounds as though you've been doing more than I have. I'm surprised to hear that Jake talks about things other than coffee, though."

"Shepherd's pie for dinner and apple pie for dessert." Walter laid the dough into a pie tin. "I'm making extras if you want to stick around for a meal."

Because Walter understood, "hey, free food."

"I'm from California, 2003, and I'm a regular girl with no super powers or anything," Summer said.
