Parker opened up the doors, and put up the Usual Notice.

SAFETY RULES:

· TREAT ALL GUNS AS IF THEY WERE LOADED

· KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL READY TO FIRE

· BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT’S BEYOND

· ALWAYS WEAR HEARING AND EYE PROTECTION

· NEVER USE ALCOHOL OR DRUGS BEFORE OR WHILE SHOOTING.

· CHECK IN ALL WEAPONS BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE RANGE

Then she put on her ear and eye protection, and started practicing.

Luke checked in and took his blaster from the weapons locker.

Luke set himself down at a target that wouldn't explode with his weapon, then began hitting bullseyes.

One after another after another.

"Is there a way to move the targets back?" he asked.

Aeryn isn't planning on staying long, but figures she should show up for the first meeting. She gets her pulse pistol and heads for the special target.

Parker wandered over, and raised an eyebrow. "Yes. Hang on." She hit a few buttons on the console, and the targets moved back another twenty yards. Giving him a considering look, she moved them back another twenty-five beyond that. "They can go farther, of course. Most people are happy to work on the close-range targets when they get in, though."

Aeryn isn't much of a conversationalist today, more focused on shooting her gun at the target that doesn't stand any chance of catching fire when she shoots at it.

Luke narrowed his eyes and fired.

"If a Raider was that close, it was already too close to do anything about it," he commented.

"Raider?" Parker asked, folding her arms. "Is that a type of ship?"

Luke's not in much of a talking mood either, so he just smiled at Aeryn and continued blowing the hell out of his own target.

Luke shook his head. "Nomads," he said. "They like to kidnap the unobservant. Uncle Owen insisted that I be able to protect myself before I was allowed out of his sight."

"Smart uncle. My father had the same philosophy." She cocked her head. "Move them back another hundred yards?"

"Please," Luke said. He gave Parker a skeptical look. "I don't see you growing up somewhere where nomads would be kidnapping people."

Jack checked in and got the 9mm he'd gotten used to out of the locker. He also made a note to ask Parker about buying one of his own.

Pip checked in and grabbed his automatic Glock from the locker. Because Glocks for the win.

Pip slipped on ear protection and started firing at the target. He appeared to be enjoying himself.

"No." Parker raised an eyebrow at him, wondering if he'd take her seriously if she answered seriously. "I grew up somewhere where I was the richest girl within a hundred-mile radius. With a father who already had a lot of enemies. I go off this Island and my father hears about it, and my bodyguard shows up." She shrugged. "Being able to shoot and fight meant it's only one bodyguard, not two."

...dirty?

Jack checked his gun, donned ear and eye protection, and started shooting. He couldn't help grinning at how natural it was starting to feel.

Dean checked in and got out the blaster he got on Coruscant. Because it was new and shiny and he still hadn't had nearly enough time to play with it.

Dean picked one of the more sturdy targets to try the blaster on and quickly fell into a shooting rhythm, hitting the center of the target or close to it each time.

Yeah, he could get used to this type of weapon really easily.

Luke looked momentarily confused. The only experience he'd ever had with bodyguards were people connected with Hutts.

Maybe Parker's father was involved in something similar...

It wasn't polite to ask.

"Makes sense," he said with a nod. "How good would you have to be to lose all the protection?"
