2nd Floor Common Room: Day

After the all the activity going on yesterday for Halloween, Marty decided to be a lump on the couch all day. So he's sitting back on the sofa, watching the DVD of "Ratman Restarts" and sipping his coffee in his sweatpants and a t-shirt.

On the coffee table is a bunch of other movies to watch and numb your mind too.

Why exactly Cally had wandered down three floors in her slippers and black pajamas, with obviously tousled bed-hair, well, that's a question that probably shouldn't be asked. She waved to Marty and set about getting herself her own cup of coffee.

Marty waved back. "How you doing Cally?"

Cally smiled, pouring herself a mug of coffee and adding only a little bit of sugar. "Doin' good," she said. "I'm apparently in a 'miss the second floor' mood today. Which is kinda bizzare, but not all that unexpected, I guess."

"Well we are the coolest floor," Marty replied in tone that clearly said he was kidding. "Or we at least have the best coffee in the dorm."

"Well, don't you have Rory and Jake on the floor?" Cally said. "I think if you didn't, there might be a riot." She sat down next to Marty, blowing onto her coffee. "How're you today?"

Anders had taken his glider out on an early morning circuit of the island, then done another obsessive polishing job on it in the garage before heading back up to the common room and sprawling out in an armchair. He was still wearing the biker jacket, and had some serious helmet hair going on.

"Good point. We may have to put some safety protocols in place if we ever run low on coffee. Like tranquilizer dart guns to knock them out," Marty suggested. "As for me? I'm feeling very lazy. I'm hoping not to do anything but sit on my butt and watch tv."

Tyler was bored. Very bored.

He came down to the common room in search of life, dribbling a minature basketball. "Hey."

"Hey Anders," Marty waved. "Did you sleep in a wind tunnel or something? Your hair's all out of whack?"

"Is for horses," Marty responded. "What brings you to the cool floor, Durden?"

"Funny," Anders said, running his fingers through the mess in a futile effort to tame it. "I gave up on trying to make it behave a long time ago."

"Have you tried giving it a time-out? Maybe sending it to bed without any conditioner?" Marty teased.

"Yes," Anders deadpanned. "And it tried to report me for abuse."

"Where does hair go to report abuse? Does it contact the national barber's union and turn in your name?"

"It's a good plan," Cally said. "The holiday was kinda taxing. Though I apparently avoided those weird pumpkin things."

Cally took one look at Anders' hair and started snickering to herself.

Nadia had stopped by the dorms that morning to check on Furrball and get in a shower, grabbing clean clothes, and generally feeling more human and a bit less like a lump.

She stopped by the second floor common room on her way back out and waved to Marty. "Hey. You're not wearing a suit."

Anders grinned. "Well, I woke up one morning and my razor had disappeared. I thought maybe the weird-shaped splotch of toothpaste on the sink counter next to where it used to be was some kind of sign."

Anders had pulled the Zippo out of his jacket pocket (hey, it was shiny, he couldn't resist) and started flicking the lid open and closed. "Yeah, yeah, yeah."

"Did you even look in a mirror this morning?" Cally teased.

"Yeah, hours ago. Shut up, I know it's a mess, okay?" he grumbled. "Better than cracking my skull open or something 'cause I wasn't wearing a helmet, especially since everybody seems to be convinced I'm just going to fall and hurt myself . . ."

Cally raised an eyebrow. "You got a motorcycle?"

"I was really hoping someone would make fun of my vocabulary," Tyler said. "It's the best way to start a morning."

Well look at that. There are actually people in the common room today.

Shawn's dressed for the day, but still a little zombie-like so he just wanders in floops onto a sofa and grunts a vague greeting at the room in general. Give him a couple of minutes and he might even manage something coherent.

"No, the Galaxy Glider Bridge built for me." Anders was still a little grumbly over people's apparent lack of faith in his ability to handle it. "Sort of a jet-powered hovering . . . surfboard kind of thing."
