The roof, Thursday evening

Nadia was taking advantage of the rather warm weather to get in some of her last roof time for the season.

Also, she was escaping her room, where her hair dryer had been singing "Feliz Navidad" over and over again. This wouldn't be so bad, except that its accent was terrible and it didn't seem to know most of the words, so it was something like

Feliz Navidad,
Feliz Navidad,
Feliz Navidad,
Oh see low midol
fertnmphi, er, dad,

I WANNA WISH YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS! . . .

For three hours.

So now she was lying on the edge of the roof and reading the Alchemist and listening to her itty-bitty book light softly humming something bluesy. This was rather preferable.

[ooc: open, though somewhat slow play until I get home from work due to me wanting to be good about the whole low bandwidth thing.]

So, instead, she was lying on the

"Always in the last place y'look," Chad said as he scaled up to the roof to see if Nadia was there, because he did say he'd try. "Knew I should have started from the bottom up."

"Yeah, I think it really brings out my eyes." You know, the ones almost completely covered by hair.

He took a seat next to her, being considerate of her neck. "What'cha reading?"

"Alchemy?" he guessed. That would inspire him to read a book titled The Alchemist, anyway.

Head and ears tilted to take a look. "You know Portuguese well?" Sure, he knew that, for the most part, if you knew Spanish well, it was difficult to piece through Portuguese at all, because of all the cognates, but he was curious it it was just that, or if she was fluent.

"Not well enough to read a book in it," he admitted. "I called it good at fluency in three languages."

"Japanese," he told her. "Hard not to live there for a few years and not pick it up, plus, mi padre was Japanese, and he'd try to sneak some in there every once in a while."

"Everything's really small there." He elaborated by making a small space with his hands.

Chad nodded. "Yeah, but I've never been big on gadgets. I miss the people the most. Had some good friends there. In Mexico, too, but...they were different, in Japan." He looked up a little bit, his face, although still relatively stoic as always, looking a little nostolgic.

"...I could," Chad said, head tilting slightly because he didn't know really where to start.

"Nope," Chad shook his head, kept the comment in his head about Mexican girls being easier than Japanese ones in his head. "There was one girl I kinda...y'know, but was never really anything there..."

"That'd probably be Ichigo," Chad said after a moment of thought, "but we weren't really close or anything. We just had..." He sighed as he searched for a word "...an understanding."

Chad rubbed the back of his neck a moment, thinking of the best way to describe Ichigo. "Brash, cocky, and stubborn as hell," he finally said, "and those were his good qualities."

"Yeah, he'd love it here," Chad nodded. "Not as much as Orihime would, though. If there's any of those kids that should be here, it's her..."
