The gym, Friday morning

Aeryn makes her way to the gym as normal, save for the little egg baby she's carrying with her. She discovered last night that eggs kind of roll when you just leave them on a flat surface (especially with a curious DRD trying to poke at it), so she's also carrying said egg baby in a bowl cushioned with a dish towel. Because leaving it just in the bowl itself seemed kind of sad. At least she's appropriately embarrassed about this.

She puts the bowl down where she can see it, gets the gloves, and does a quick warmup before Rory arrives.

Isabel had some excess energy to burn before she started packing for the trip to Tortall so she and Benjamin took a walk down to the gym.

"Hi Aeryn!" she called out as she set Benjamin's lunchbox down next to Aeryn's egg and opens it. "Now play nice kids..." She gave Benjamin's wee head (http://pics.livejournal.com/izzyalienqueen/pic/00001c8b) a pat then walked over to the mat and started to stretch.

"I brought my own gloves!" Rory says proudly.

Her gloves? Are pink.

This probably isn't that surprising.

Aeryn actually looked over to make sure her egg didn't get knocked over or anything, which is why she blinks at Benjamin. "Um," she says.

It shouldn't have been that surprising, and Aeryn should really know better. Still looking at the gloves, she says, "I suppose there's no question of you being ready for today..."

"I think they'll play nice together," Isabel said, stretching down over her legs.

She's still boggling a little. "I'm not sure they'll be doing much playing... Isabel, does your egg have a face?"

"Yup," she nodded, as if there was nothing wrong with that. "I think I did a good job and gave him his daddy's eyes."

Now she's boggling a lot. "You know your egg's father was a rooster, right?"

Isabel laughed. "I do. I was just bored in the library yesterday after class and amused myself with markers."

"So you drew a face on your Ethics assignment?" she says. "Does its other parent know?"

"I told him I was going to do it," she grinned. "He didn't have a problem with it."

Aeryn looks back towards her egg. "I think mine is fine faceless," she decides.

"But does he have a name at least?" she asked, only half joking.

"Egg," she says. And then adds, "D'Anna named him."

"It's simple," Isabel said. "I like it. That's Benjamin. Bel picked out the name."

She considers this. "It's a good name," she decides. "Do you just have him for the weekend?"

"Through Monday and then Bel is going to take him," she said. "I think he would have been happy letting me keep him the whole week. But I think he needs to share the responsibility."

Aeryn feels slightly guilty about wanting to pawn the egg off yesterday. But at the same time, she could have left Egg with John today and she didn't. "It's only fair," she says. "D'Anna's taking this one for the weekend."

"We're both going to Tortall with Alanna this afternoon. I'm going to ask Sam to eggsit while we're gone." Isabel shrugged, "We're only going to be gone a few hours but I'm afraid if I leave it in my room it'll hatch or something weird."

There's a long pause.

"They'll hatch?"

"They're not supposed to. But Aeryn? It's Fandom. I would not be surprised in the least if something green and scaly hatched out of there," she said, completely serious.

Aeryn frowns at her egg, willing it a silent No hatching while I'm gone. "I suppose you'd still have to care for it if it did," she says.

"Only if it's cute. But this is Vader's project we're talking about. It'll probably eat our brains." Yes, she has thought about that.

"That would probably get him in trouble with the administration," she says, managing not to twitch. "More likely we would have to find an ethical way to make it not eat our brains, and then report back why we failed."

"Which would be a bit difficult if our brains were lunch," Isabel pointed out. "And on that happy note, I'm going to bed very soon I'm going to go and hit the trainer. I haven't been doing that nearly enough lately."
