The Roof, Saturday afternoon

Walter had a thermos of tea, a bag of sandwiches, and a cigarette. Thanks to his semi-insane metabolism, he hadn't even had a brushing acquaintance with a hangovr; he couldn't complain at all. Eventually, he'd see Cally, if she remembered the night before. Then there would be jumping off the roof.

Until then, there was tea, food, and cigarettes.

Pippi flounced up to the roof, juggling some hollow plastic balls.

After a rather rambly and not terribly coherent conversation with Chad, Nadia was down to just being kinda buzzed. She had a big bottle of water and, well, she had no reason to wander up to the roof, but she went on up, anyway. "Hey, Walter!"

"You really gonna jump?" Cally said, finally having surfaced from her room after finally ridding herself of a minor hangover.

Walter heard the telltale sounds of flouncing and turned to greet Pippi. "Hey. Nice balls. "

Walter turned around and grinned at her. "Hey, you. You remembered."

Walter rolled his eyes at her. "Of course I am. I'm offended that you think I"m all talk."

"I'm offended you think that I think you're all talk," Cally said. "What do you think about that?"

"I did! . . . What did I remember?"

"I think you're attempting to use female wiles to confuse me and it just won't work," Walter said with a decisive nod of his head.

"Roof jumping." He waved her over and nodded approvingly at the water bottle. "How are you feeling?"

"...this has nothing to do with my boobs," Cally said.

"I'm fine," she drew out the syllables a bit longer than necessary. "That was a whole lot of rum, though."

Walter noticed. "Enough rum to still be feeling it?"

"Feminine wiles. Attempting to divert things to discussion of your... assets."

"I prefer them with a bit of weight," Walter said, then hastily added, "For juggling!"

"Why would I want to discuss my assets? I thought this was about you jumping off the roof! Why would they cause you to do that?!"

There's a joke to be made here about juggling and balls and Englishmen and teabags... But I don't feel up to making it just now.

"Right..." Pippi said. "I agree... With the juggling."

Walter had to remind himself that Cally had more than once demonstrated that she wasn't the brightest bulb in the box.

He ground out his cigarette, stood up, brushed off his trousers, and jumped off the edge of the roof.
