Second Floor Common Room, Tuesday afternoon

After checking in at the school, Wyatt got his room assignment (208) and headed for the dorms. The room was empty when he found it, so either he didn't have a roommate or he hadn't shown up yet. Hopefully his roommate would be cool. Wyatt hadn't shared a room with anyone for years.

He claimed the left side of the room and wandered out to the common room area to get a feel for the place. (And also to see if there were girls on the floor.)

Anders shuffled into the common room with an armload of burger fixings and paused. "Whoa, hey, new guy."

It was only a matter of time before Turtle left the awesomeness of her new room to go see if the rest of the dormitory was as awesome. She drifted down the hall to the big room she remembered passing and stuck her witch-hatted head in.

"What this?" she asked, more to herself than anyone in particular. "Oh, cool, a rec room. Type. Thing..." She drifted in to poke at all the new stuff.

"Yeah, just got here," Wyatt said. He started to offer his hand, then realized Anders had his too full to shake it. "Wyatt," he said. "Wyatt Halliwell. Junior."

"You new here, too?" Wyatt said, spotting the girl checking the place out.

Turtle jumped a bit, whipping around toward the sound of a voice, tail of a braid whipping around with her. Ohmigod! Cute boy! Two o'clock! A hand very quickly, but not too subtly, reached up and removed the fake mole on her chin, shoving it deep into the pockets of her jeans. "Oh! Hi! I didn't see anyone there." She grinned a little. "Yeah, I'm new. Turtle Wexler." She offered her hand. "Nice to meet ya."

"Cool, you're in my year then. Name's Anders." He set the stuff down on the counter. "They put you on this floor?"

Wyatt nodded. "Room 208," he said. "Why, they don't usually put people here or something?"

"Wyatt Halliwell," he said, shaking the offered hand. He didn't miss the weird mole-removing movement, but he didn't comment on it. "Turtle, that a nickname or something?" he asked.

Wyatt might notice that Turtle had a very firm and respectable handshake. She'd been practicing; Sandy told her that a good handshake was important, although it did seem strange that a doorman would concern himself with things like that.

"Uhhh, yeah," she answered his question, gnawing on her lower lip a little. She really hoped he didn't ask what her real name was, because she didn't want to already start having to hate someone.

Anders laughed. "It's been a while since they put new people on this floor. Used to be that two thirds of the frakkin' school lived on this floor, with a handful of people scattered over the other ones. But they've been spreading people out more since." He chucked a thumb toward the stove. "Hungry?"

"Hey," Anders said with a friendly smile for the new girl. "How's it going?"

"Starving," Wyatt admitted. "They didn't feed us much on the plane. Well, if we'd coughed up some more cash, they would've, but I didn't want to spend any extra money until I got out here and saw what things were like."

Whoa. Guys at this school so far beat the pants off of Doug and Theo, hands down.

"Hey," Turtle smiled back with a little wave, adjusting her hat. "Pretty good. I'm Turtle. I just got here."

Broots was beginning to think his roommate had been sucked into the locker so...he decided to go into a common room. His laptop was as usual on his shoulder.

"So where are you from, Turtle?" Wyatt said. "I just got in this afternoon from San Francisco with my little brother."

"Hey," Wyatt said, giving Broots a friendly wave.

"You look like a double-cheeseburger guy to me," Anders decided, and tossed three patties into the grill pan. "Don't worry, there's always opportunities for free food around here. Somebody or other is always cooking."

"San Francisco?" Turtle had a wide, envious grin. "That's really cool. I'm just from middle-of-no-where Wisconson."

"Hi." Broots blinked. "Who are you?" Social graces? Broots?

"Now that is a cool name. I'm Anders," he told her. "Welcome to Fandom! You, uh, want a hamburger?"

Turtle bounced a little as the opprotunity to meet another person arose. "Hi!" she waved, but her eyes were all on Broots' laptop.

"Ooh, hamburger! Yes, please." Her hand drifted over her stomach. "I haven't had any lunch yet, so, yeah. And thanks. Anders is a pretty cool name, too. That German, or something?"

Broots blinked. "Hi. Why are there so many new people?"

Wyatt grinned. "Dude, you are my new best friend," he said. "So you on this floor, too, then? What room?"

"Wyatt Halliwell," he said. "I just moved on to this floor."
