Rooftop: most of the afternoon

Before going down to meet the new people, Parker decided a real welcome was in order.

That's why she was blowing soap bubbles off the roof, right over the entrance.

The new people should get *some* hint this place wasn't normal before they met the squirrels....

Following the bubbles, D'anna made her way to the roof where she found a nice spot to peer down at the new people as they stumbled in.

"A step up from rocks." She greeted Parker with a nod to bubbles already floating in the air.

"And less likely to get me Detention before the semester even starts," Parker agreed. "Happy New Year. Seen anyone new and weird yet?"

"Easier to carry, too." D'anna grinned. "Happy New Year. New, yes. Weird, not yet but there's always hope!"

Parker grinned. "Definitely. How was your break?" She dipped the loop into the bottle, and blew another string of transparent bubbles off the roof. The wind caught them and sent them drifting down over the entrance. "Did you get back to Leonis?"

"Only briefly. Packed in some shopping, came back before I could be missed." D shrugged, eyes on the crowd below. "How was yours?"

"Fun while I was in Athens-- remind me to show you pictures, I want to see if it looks the same to you Colonists as the Kobol stuff did in Interstellar Relations-- and riding around with hot guys. And hanging out with my Dad. Less fun while I was dealing with crazy friends in L.A." Parker made a face. "New Year's was good, though."

"Kobol?" Her brain stopped.

D blinked a few times as it restarted. "Hot guys are always a plus. What happened in LA? Speaking of, is it possible to send packages there?"

"Professor Roslin had some photos of what it's supposed to look like, in IR. It looked Greek, like a few of the ruins here on Earth," Parker said absently, dipping the soap bubble blower again. "And yes, you can. As for what happened..." She sighed. "Drama. Stupidity. Broken hearts and lost memories and three people who shouldn't share a city, much less a hotel. I hate being the only sane person in the room."

"Have you ever heard of a place here on Earth referred to as Olympus?" D asked. If Parker wanted to talk about it, she would listen, but she wasn't about to pry. Really. "I'm sorry it hoovered. Is everyone alright, now?"

"Mount Olympus?" Parker swished the loop in the air, and another bright gleaming trail of bubbles broke free. "Yeah. Again, in Greece. Do you guys have one too?" She sighed. "And no. Callisto's-- definitely not all right. I wish she'd come back with me. That girl needs a long stay somewhere quiet."

"No, not by name anyway. I picked it up in my Myth class last term." D made vague hand gestures in the air. "Your Mount Olympus is like our Kobol. Legendary, mythical, home of the Gods. It doesn't really exist, physically speaking." Little did she know...

D's attention turned from the mingling and lost to Parker. "What's going on with Cal? I thought she'd gone to stay with Dead and Clueless?" D had meant the last as one person, but that didn't mean that others had to take it that way.

"Ah. That makes sense. Ours was both-- a physical place so high they assumed the gods lived above it." Parker looked speculative. "What's Kobol supposed to be like? Another planet? Or a place on one of your Colonies?"

"She did. Dead and Clueless then went on to ignore her, and let her hang around in spite of it, driving Cal even *more* crazy than she already was. Clueless bought an amnesia amulet to try and deal with her, and of course, made it all worse." Parker offered the bubble wand to D'Anna. "I'm ready to drown him and Dead in the ocean. Not that it would help with Angel."

"We have got to get you a hobby," Zero said after following the soap bubbles to the roof and finding Parker there.

"Avoiding the insanity?" Isabel asked, dropping down to sit next to Parker.

"This *is* my hobby. Torment and confusion," Parker pointed out. "God, I lvoe the hair."

"Mmmm, and the inevitable crushing, bumping, and bruising. I have to go down there later, but not yet, thank God." Parker blew more bubbles off the roof, then grinned. "Seen anyone interesting? Anyone I can hook up Anders with?"

"Oh, well then," Zero said. She gave Parker an impish grin and asked, "Got any more?"

Parker poked her loop into the bottle, and fished out another wand. "Yours to command. How was New Year's? Seen your boyfriendly type yet?"

"That depends, does he want a guy or a girl hook-up?" she aked. "Because I only talked to guys."

"Don't think he has a preference there, and my standards for him are pretty much limited to 'sane and cute'. Any of them look like they bat for his team? Or both?" Parker grinned, and blew a really huge bubble toward Isabel.

"Not yet," Zero said with a shake of her head. "I dropped my stuff off an' went to look for my little. No luck on that front unless she shows up after I post this.... And. Um. Any reports on CNN about tampering with the fireworks at the Flange City New Year's Spectacular were absolutely not me...and Rat and Arsenal and Twitch and Claude and Henry."

"I really couldn't tell," Isabel admitted. "But definitely cross my little brother off the list. I don't think he's quite sane."

Anders came up from the common room for a smoke where he wouldn't be setting a bad example for all the new kids. Well, that idea went right out the window with Parker there.

"Interesting new hobby you have there."

"Hmm. My Little Sib is, get this, a Halliwell. I'm anticipating some major emo, and possibly property damage." Parker chortled, teetering on the ledge a little before she got her equilibrium back. "So, the Not Me Gang had a good time? Damn. Were there pix? Non-incriminating ones?"
