Third Floor Common Room, before 1st period

The first day of school demanded breakfast. How kind of Arthur to sign him up for a Monday morning first period class. Nevermind that Walter had rather wanted to take the DAMM class because the teacher looked like an absolute and utter loon.

That aside, he was cooking breakfast. Lots of breakfast. Eggs, bacon, toast, fruit, juice, coffee for the heathens, and of course, tea. He already had two large dishes of both eggs and bacon keeping warm in the oven and was trying to keep from stumbling over Pup, who was dancing underfoot.

Pup would no doubt be delighted to greet anyone coming in for breakfast. How those coming in would greet a six-eyed black puppy with a voice like a small pack of hounds was anyone's guess.

[ETA: ~~Dragging my lazy ass off to work. Will respond to pings after I'm there and SP through the day.~~ Wah. I'm home from work again. I am sick of being sick. Dance!]

Tori was up early, especially considering her one class for the day didn't start until eleven. It was the excitement of starting classes that had her up now.

Walking into the common room, Tori took note of the breakfast being made and grinned. That was quite a gesture, to be up so early and cooking for people.

Pup finally stopped trying to help Walter break his leg and trotted over to sniff the new person. His tail wagged a blur and he hoped she'd bend down so he'd have a chance to ~~thoroughly plumb her sinuses~~ give her a kiss.

Walter waved a butter covered knife at Tori and went back to slathering a piece of toast with it. "Good morning. That's Pup and there's breakfast if you'd like it."

"Morning Walter." Tori grinned. "Thanks so much."

Bending down, Tori smiled at Pup and pet him. "Hey there Pup." He was cute, even with six eyes, but that didn't bother Tori one bit.

Glee! Pup immediately jumped up for a chance to lick her face. He apparently was very partial to noses.

Walter glanced over at the familiar sight of his pup attempting to prove he was an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist and grinned.

"Take as much as you'd like. I can always make more. I take it you have class today?"

Katara had gotten up early to make sure she would actually find her way to her first class, but the smell of food lured her down to the Common Room. She paused at the doorway, looking at Pup. For once. An animal that looked normal.

Tori laughed at she was ~~given a bath~~ licked by Pup. "Eager little fellow, isn't he?"

She smiled and nodded. "Conflict Management, at eleven." Tori was excited and maybe a tiny bit anxious. But she knew some people in her class all ready, Conner, Annette, Luke, so she wasn't terribly nervous.

Having properly greeted Tori, Pup was delighted to trot over to yet another new person ~~yay unexplored nasal territory!~~ and dance at her feet until she said hello.

Walter, having settled in with his own heavily laden plate of breakfast, nodded to the new girl and waited to finish his bite of toast before saying, "Good morning, there's breakfast if you'd like some. I'm Walter."

"He's a little bother, but he's mine," Walter said fondly.

"I have DAMM first period. What sort of necromancer has a class first period on Monday morning? I thought they were night people."

Tori smiled at the affection she heard in Walter's voice. "He's great." She was having fun with Pup.

She shrugged. "That does seem odd, but then again, this is Fandom. Maybe he's on a different schedule here?" It was a possibility.

She beamed at Pup and knelt down instantly to give him as many pets as he'd like. After paying attention to the dog, she realised that she ought to respond to the boy that spoke to her. "Morning," she said. "I'm Katara. Is this your animal? He's lovely."

And Pup was delighted with her. He loved people ~~even if his Walter wouldn't let him impale any of them or ravage uncontrolled through the town.~~ He'd given up on face licking for the moment and flopped over on his back to shamelessly demand belly rubs.

"Possible, but he sounds American," Walter said, nodding. "But then again, he did appear in a cloud of purple smoke with screaming skulls, so who knows where he's actually from. Cally sounds American, too."

Nadia was wandering her way downstairs and smelled breakfast. It didn't take a genius to figure out who might be cooking in the third floor common room.

"Hey," She crouched down to offer a hand out to Pup. "And hello to you, too."

Shawn also has first period class, and he's not the biggest morning person ever. This is possibly why he stumbled up a floor in search of someone already preparing food rather than risk trying to make anything himself.

"Morning," he mumbled. Right before flopping bonelessly onto the nearest couch.

"Tori!" Katara said with a wave. "Are you in the Malicious Magic class too? Hopefully? Maybe?"

Not that she wanted to know someone else in the class at all. Really.

"That's Pup and yes, he's mine. I'm not responsible for any damage he does to your nose," he added as Pup made a jump to try to lick the aforementioned body part.

"Nice to meet you. If you'd like breakfast, I've made plenty."

Pup knew this girl and knew that she was on to him about his favorite way to greet people.

But it was worth a try.

Walter smiled and immediately pulled a cup out of the cabinet to pour Nadia some coffee. "Hey yourself. What has you up so early when you don't have a first period class?"

"Good morning," Walter greeted. "Tea? Coffee?"

Pup had different ideas of a proper greeting and was already scrambling his way up onto the couch to try to say hello to the boy he hadn't met before.

Nadia allowed Pup one or two explorations of her nostrils with his tongue before standing up again. "Would you believe 'the excitement of starting a new semester'?"

"Is he a pgymy panther?" Katara asked though she doubted it given how friendly Pup was. "Who's a good Pup?" she directed her question to the hell hound, allowing him to lick her nose.

"Thank you! That's very kind," she replied, though she was tentative about eating a boy's cooking. "Do you often cook?"

Suddenly, Shawn is far more awake. Being overenthusiastically greeted by a six eyed dog will do that to you. "Wow, hi," he said sitting up a bit straighter.

He turned to Walter, "Uh, tea would be awesome." He then went to pet Pup experimentally, he seemed friendly enough despite the extra eyes after all. "Yours?" he asked.

Walter eyed her dubiously and held out the properly prepared cup. "Maybe? Would you like some breakfast?"

"Hellhound puppy," Walter said and hazarding that she'd prefer tea to coffee, slid a cup across the table toward her. "I cook more often than most of the people here, so I always make enough to share."

Pup knew exactly who was a good Pup. He was the best Pup there ever, ever was! And he had the insanely wagging tail to prove it.

"Mine," Walter agreed. "That's Pup. He doesn't bite." The last was said with a warning look for the hellpuppy.

Pup did, however, lick.

"I'm Walter," he said, putting a cup down on the coffee table away from flailing Pup tail.

"I'd love some, thanks!" Nadia accepted the cup. "And, okay, it's because I have a second period class and I set my alarm wrong. But the other way sounds better."

"Uh, cute," Shawn remarked putting up with the licking for a minute there. "Enthusiastic," he added after a moment.

"I'm Shawn, by the way," he said. "You got early classes too?"
