School grounds, late afternoon

After seeing all that he could see in the school, Simba scampered on down to the school grounds. He felt more comfortable out in the grass and bushes than trapped inside the tight school buildings. so far, this had seemed like a good day.

If you listened carefully, you also might have been able to hear the faint sounds of musical theatre in the air.

Waldo wasn't gaping. He was eating grapes in the background, though.

Frederic didn't quite know why, but he felt a strange compulsion to make his way to the grounds, humming to himself the whole while.

Kowalski was waddling back from securing an engine to the backside of the island when he came across the lion cub again. Even he couldn't resist tapping his webbed feet to the beat that seemed to be coming out of nowhere.

Zero was there. With a video camera. Oh yes.

Simba smiled as he saw the penguin he had met yesterday wander by. "Hey!" he said, scampering over. "Have you decided to be eaten yet?"

Kowalski went to explain all over again why he shouldn't be eaten, but he sighed. It was a waste of energy. He simply shook his head.

"Aww, c'mon," he whined. "I'm gonna be king someday, so you should be nice to me now."

"Penguins aren't part of your kingdom, sir. The animals of Antarctica have an independent republic autonomous from any monarchy."

He'd read that somewhere.

Mufasa, more than a bit embarrassed about thinking he was a human, of all things, for a while was sitting in the brush watching his son proudly.

But he wouldn't sing.

Simba just gave him a yeah-right look. How could you have a nation with out a king?

"I can't wait until I'm a king. It's gonna be so~~~ great," he said, starting to dream a bit about the future.

"With all due respect sir, you'll have to put on a few pounds before being king. You're on the small side."

Simba smirked. "That's not the way I see it."

He leaped next to Kawalsky, and the world suddenly exploded into a crazy off-colour stylized version of itself. Up-key music suddenly started blaring out of nowhere, as Simba broke out into song.

"I'm gonna be a mighty king, so enemies beware!"

Kowalski coughed into his wing. "No offense, sir," Kowalski said, rather than singing, "I've never seen a king of beasts with quite so little hair."

Simba ignored the insult and carried on singing, he was really starting to get into this now and was starting to do some creative poses to go along with his lyrics.

"I'm gonna be the mane event like no king was before! I'm brushing up on looking down, I'm working on my ROAR!"

Kowalski cleaned out his ear with his wing and a squeaky noise to make sure he'd heard that right. "Sir, thus far it's an uninspiring thing."

But Simba was completely into this now. He climbed on top of a blue bench with yellow stripes and threw his front paws wide open.

"Oh, I just can't wait to be king!!"

"That's great, sir. Now if you could step aside..." He didn't want to get into another fight with a kid if he could help it.

Simba leaped off the bench, and stared Kowalski in the eyes.

"No one saying 'do this'," he sang sarcastically.

*is busy being NWS, but expresses OOC love*

"I wasn't trying to-"

"No one saying 'be there'," Frederic broke in with.

"Now, I didn't-"

Simba made faces at Kowalski behind his back while his attention was focused on Frederic, then quickly put a smirk back on before singing again.

"No one saying 'stop that'!"

"I don't remember ever saying-"

Frederic made little bunny ears over Kowalski's headwhile his back was turned.

"No one saying 'see here'!"

Kowalski went to say it, then stopped. The 'show must go on' instinct kicked in and he sighed. "Now see here."

"Free to run around all day!" sang Simba, starting to swing around in jazz little circles.

"I don't think that's how a monarchy works."

"Free to do it all my way!" he sang, breaking out of the circles to strike a heroic pose.

"Sir," Kowalski said, eyeing the strange lion cub. He was seriously misjudging the situation. "I think it's time that you and I arranged a heart-to-heart."

Simba rolled his eyes and continued singing.

"Kings don't need advice from little penguins for a start!"

"You know what, sir? If this is where your monarchy is headed, count me out. Out of service, out of Africa, I wouldn't hang about." He glanced in the general direction of the people watching them. "This kid is getting really out of wing."

Simba just ignored him. What would a bird like him know, anyway?

"Oh, I just can't wait to be king!!" he sung at an even louder pitch.

The fairy zipped by on her way for a new hunt for treasure. She had no idea why, but she felt compelled to hang around. And found herself belting out, "Everybody look left!"

"Everybody look right!" Simba continued, picking up the cue from the adorable little fairy ~~who might be good to try pouncing on later~~. "Everywhere you look I'm standing in the spotlight!"

"Not yet sir," Kowalski pointed out.

It was at this point that a large herd of day-glo coloured African animals burst on to the scene and quickly formed themselves into a large and surprisingly good kickline. They also broke into song as Simba continued to boogie in front.

"Let every creature go for broke and sing! Let's hear it in the herd and on the wing! It's gonna be King Simba's finest fling!"

"Okay. I'm out of here." He started to waddle off.

The song reached fever pitch as the animals hoisted Simba up on their shoulders and started to form into a cheerleader style pyramid. Everyone joined in for the last couple of lines.

"Oh, I just can't wait to be king!
Oh, I just can't wait to be king!
Oh, I just can't waaaaaait ... to be king!"

As that last line was sung, the world snapped back to reality, and all the animals and bizarre colour schemes immediately disappeared, to be replaced by the usual Fandom High grounds. Simba ws surprised to find his audience gone.

"... where'd everybody go?"

*seconds the OOC love and amusement*
