The Roof, Tuesday Afternoon

For a relaxing week off of school, this was turning into an insanely stressful time.

Teddy sat on the ledge, looking out over the campus. Why he came up here after the fight with Cassie a few days ago, he hadn't the faintest idea. It just seemed like a place where he could get some emoingthinking done.

Eventually, an idle bottom-to-top search would lead Chad to the top, which made him wonder if maybe he should've gone top-to-bottom.

"There you are," he smiled when he spotted Teddy and headed over to...kind of join him. The ledge made him nervous, so he hung back a bit, because, yeah. Heights.

Chad considered maybe going over there to join Teddy; sitting next to Teddy would be worth it. But then he decided maybe in a minute. He'd get there eventually. He shoved his hands into his pockets.

"What's up?"

They were four words no guy ever wanted to hear. Especially after a hazy drunken weekend in Mexico.

They were four words that helped overcome a fear of heights momentarily, too. Chad reminded himself not to jump to any conclusions as he carefully lowered himself down to sit next to Teddy. He stayed quiet as he looked down at his hands in front of him, and waited. If Teddy needed to talk, he was there to listen.

Not good. Not good at all. Chad felt his throat go dry, making it a little hard to swallow, but he did anyway, and his shoulders tightened as if he were ready to take a punch. "Yeah..."

This...this wasn't going to be about the Mexico thing, was it? They hadn't even really talk about it at all, and it didn't seem like a big thing....He had to do it; he'd hate himself forever if he missed up a chance like that. Or was it something else? Was he doing something else wrong...?

Which wasn't what Chad was preparing himself for, but this...was almost worst. Because home, for Ted, meant...

"What?" Chad's gaze shifted over to Teddy, frowning deeply. "W..why?"

As much as he wished he didn't at that moment, Chad could definately understand that, and he nodded. He'd be doing the exact same thing if he knew something was happening back...well, he guessed he could call it home, but if Ichigo and Orihime were to need him...

He was quiet a moment longer before he said anything.

"You...you'll be careful, right?"

Not that he doubted it; he just...needed to hear a confirmation.

Chad's arms went around Teddy, holding him close, resting his head against the top of Teddy's. "Then I got nothin' to worry about." Of course, that didn't mean he wouldn't. But Ted was smart, and he was strong, and if he said he'd be okay and he'd be careful, well...Chad had no reason not to believe, and he'd trust him.

"...How long will you be gone?" he asked, squeezing a little tighter. "Do you know?"

"I hope not long, too...."

Like, you know. Getting back yesterday.

"When...are you leaving?"

Chad's hug became a little tighter. That was...way too soon.

Chad dragged the kiss out as long as he could, as if he wouldn't get a chance to kiss Ted again for a really long time. Then he rested his forehead against Teddy's, and close his head. "Miss you, too..."

And worry about you and not stop thinking about you for anything, and then worry some more.

He felt hesitant before saying anything more; it felt selfish to ask. "Are...are you busy tonight? Have a lot of stuff to do before you leave, or...?"
