Fifth floor common room, Thursday afternoon

It was a bit too chilly for Nadia to want to be emo on the roof, so she was doing it in the common room, instead.

She was pretty sure she didn't want to know why there was unpopped popcorn and shredded paper on the floor.

Emoing could be hungry work, though, so Nadia made some freshpopcorn and set about trying to figure out how one made popcorn balls.

Annette wandered in after Tremble Foolish Mortals. She didn't feel like being emo in her room or outside; she was just going to check to see who was in the common room.

She smelled the popcorn first, then saw Nadia, then noticed the mess on the floor.

"Uh, hey Nadia."

"Hey Annette." Nadia looked over at the mess. "That's not mine. It was here when I got here."

"Strange, eh?" She made a face but walked into the kitchen to grab a broom and dustpan and started to clean it up.

"Whoever did it could have at least cleaned it up."

"You'd think so, wouldn't you." Nadia made no apologies for not cleaning it up, herself. "Do you know how to make popcorn balls?"

She raised her brows as she continued sweeping, "Umm, with popcorn for sure." Yeah, that was Annette being cook-wise. "And something sticky."

"Sticky like maple syrup, or sticky like pre-chewed bubble gum?"

"Oh, yes, syrup, Nadia. Probably like Kayro syrup. It's clear. Maybe add food coloring? And a flavor? Sugar? I have no idea?"

Pippi flounced up to the common room after class.

"Whatcha cookin?"

Nadia had no idea what "kayro syrup" was. "Ah. Of course. I was thinking maybe melted marshmallows."

"Popcorn balls. I think I need some marshmallows."

"Melted marshmallows. Hadn't thought of that. Hey, I've got a bunch of peeps in my room. But am kind of saving them." She whistled innocently and kept sweeping up the mess.

"For Pagan Peep on a Pole Day?"

"That's okay, I'm sure we have some around here. Oh, or maybe peanut butter."

"Oooh... And chocolate? Like popcorn s'mores?"

"For blowing up!"

"Oh. Now, I'm hungry. I sure would like one of those popcorn balls when they get done. I'll help make them?" She offered, clearly not minding the fact that she don't know how to make them.

"Sure, why not?"

"I think maybe we should figure out how we're doing it, first."

"I think there's both chocolate and marshmallows at the top of the pantry."

"Any recipes around here?" She wasn't looking though. Annette really thought she was going to grow up and have someone cook for her, just like her parents did. Though making gingersnaps with Mr. Phale had been rather nice.

She dumped a full dustpan full of shredded paper and unpopped popcorn in the trash.

Nadia went to check, and sure enough, there they were. "Cool. Thanks, Pippi." Nadia brought them down, then after a moment's hesitation, started beating the marshmallows to a marshmallowy pulp.

It was theraputic.

"We could check online, I guess,"

"Oh, aside from making popcorn balls, I wanted to ask you something and some equipment M gave me this morning."

"Okay, what'd she give you?" Nadia found some marshmallows and a big wooden spoon.

And started smooshing the marshmallows with said wooden spoon.

It was theraputic.

"I take it you talked to Walter last night."

"Nightvision glasses, a digital camera fountain pen, and I get to borrow the fingerprint kit until the end of term."
