Salamander Cabin, Campfire, Tuesday Evening

Tannim wasn't the biggest fan of the Great Outdoors - or rather, the Great Outdoors didn't like him very much, seeing as he was allergic to just about everything that grew outside. But it *was* camp, and anyway, how often did you get to burn things for fun? So he was outside at his cabin's campfire with a stack of wood, trying (rather unsuccessfully) to get a fire started.


[Open to anyone, especially if you can help with the fire.]

Buffy was on her way back to her cabin, when she spotted Tannim. She paused. "What are you doing?"

"Lighting a fire," Tannim said. He struck a match and held it to one of the logs. A bit of bark caught fire, then burned out. "In theory," he added.

"I don't think your theory is working," Buffy said amused. She knelt down beside him. "Maybe I can help?" She'd managed to get the bonfire on fire, how difficult could this be?

"Go for it," Tannim said, handing her the matches. "I'm Tannim, by the way."

"Buffy," Buffy said, accepting the matches. She rearranged the wood a little and then set fire to it. She was triumphant for all of thirty seconds. "...Aw, man."

Kabuto paused on his way out of the cabin, watching Tannim for a moment. "...Having trouble?" he asked politely.

Tannim stared glumly at the fire. "It looks like it should be easy."

"Are you any good with fires?" Tannim asked hopefully.

"Well..." Kabuto pulled an innocent-looking piece of paper out of his pocket. "...We could try an exploding tag."

"I got the bonfire lit," Buffy said, equally glum. "This should be easy, don't you think?"

"... a what?" Tannim asked.

Once things seemed to die down a little over at the Jackalope fire, Turtle noticed some people at the cabin next door and, since she wasn't feeling tired at all, decided to hop over and check it out.

Buffy waved. "Hi Turtle!"

"Exploding?" Buffy said warily.

"Hey!" Tannim smiled and waved at Turtle.

Turtle lifted her arms as if in celebration. "Fake big sister!" she said, not nearly with as much enthusiasm as such a gesture usually called for, but she'd had a long boring day and was a little drained, but not tired, because that long boring day included way too much sugar. "What's up?"

"Oh! Tannim!" Turtle smirked a little, crossing her arms over her chest as she looked toward him. "You are still alive. Awesome. We got way too much Gatorade at the store; you gotta come clean us out again."

"Exploding tag," Kabuto explained. "Useful for making enemies wish they hadn't followed you." He smiled brightly. "It would definitely light the fire."

"We're trying to get the fire to, you know, be on fire." Buffy gestured towards the very not on fire campfire.

"...Did you try a match?"

Seemed like the reasonable solution to her, anyway.

"That sounds promising," Tannim said.

"Ah, yeah, I went back home after finals," Tannim said. "I'll definitely have to stop by. How's business?"

"Um," said Buffy. "I think I'll go sit over... there while you try it."

"Not bad, 'cept the fact that no one wants to work, there, apparantly." Turtle rolled her eyes, lip curling distastefully. "More profit for me, I guess, huh? Might try again tomorrow. Plus, I'm brokering now on the side. Should be pretty interesting."
