Abominable Snowliving room [evening, Friday]

Aravis, after her informative talk with Rikku the other day, had actually managed to put herself together reasonably well, in preparation for her date with Seely which is being posted early like whoa yay timezones.

So now she sat perched on the couch in Abominable Snowcabin, wearing a light-colored summer gown and her hair down and out of its usual braid. She'd coerced the television into doing something, and was now watching some sort of presentation about a man selling knives for a limited time while she waited.

[totally open to cabinmates, and obviously for the boy who is picking up the girl.]

Naminé stepped into the living room, smiling lightly at the other girl.

"You look very nice," she said. "What are you watching?"

Dressed in his best shirt and a nice pair of slacks, Seely made his way up to the cabin and knocked on the door.

He totally wasn't fussing with his hair as he waited to be tormented by the cabinmates Aravis.

Naminé looked at the screen curiously. "They appear to be very happy about the knives," she mused. "I've never seen anyone that enthusiastic about it myself."

Seely grinned at Aravis. "Hey."

Belatedly he remembered he'd brought flowers. "I, uh, got you these."

"They seem surprised that they work at all," Naminé laughed. "They keep applauding simple tasks like 'look, it did in fact cut that.' What sort of knives are these people used to?"

[identity profile] socksofcool.livejournal.com 2007-05-25 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"You're welcome," Seely said. "Sure, I'd love to."

[identity profile] socksofcool.livejournal.com 2007-05-25 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Seely leant against the couch. "I'm good. How about you?"

[identity profile] socksofcool.livejournal.com 2007-05-25 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"Thanks." Seely was blushing, just a little. "You, you look...beautiful."

[identity profile] palestshadow.livejournal.com 2007-05-25 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Naminé shook her head, bemused. "They come from a world not like yours or mine. A world where forks and spoons are all they know. They are plagued by metal cylinders and steaks. This is clearly a documentary. History in the making."

[identity profile] socksofcool.livejournal.com 2007-05-25 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"I was thinking we could go catch a movie," Seely said. "Then maybe get some food at Ching Tai's or stop in at the Perk for coffee."

[identity profile] palestshadow.livejournal.com 2007-05-25 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"I fear for them, if this is their military," said Naminé lightly. "They will spend at least the first week of battle simply marvelling over the effectiveness of their weaponry. The metal cylinder looks a clear winner."

[identity profile] palestshadow.livejournal.com 2007-05-25 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
"Maybe it's propaganda. To reassure the people of No-Knife-Land that all will be well, and this wonderful new weapon they've invented will cut right through those metal cylinders with no difficulty." Naminé nodded. "I wonder if perhaps morale was low."

[identity profile] socksofcool.livejournal.com 2007-05-25 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"Great," Seely beamed. "They're playing a classic tonight, Dixon Hill in The Black Orchid."

[identity profile] socksofcool.livejournal.com 2007-05-25 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"Kinda," Seely said. "It's based around this famous unsolved murder that took place around the time the story the film's based on was written."

[identity profile] palestshadow.livejournal.com 2007-05-25 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"Have faith in your government, fair citizens. We have found a solution, in these sharp metal tools. The cylinders will fall to the blades." Naminé laughed. "I should like to see CylinderNation's counterprogramming myself."

[identity profile] socksofcool.livejournal.com 2007-05-25 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"The murder victim was known as the Black Orchid before she died."

[identity profile] socksofcool.livejournal.com 2007-05-25 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well, she didn't call herself that, exactly," Seely said, deciding that the precise details could wait until they were in a darkened movie theatre and she couldn't see him blush.

[identity profile] palestshadow.livejournal.com 2007-05-25 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes! Of course, the cylinders would have barbed wire and jagged edges, and the knives ... perhaps their programming would feature sporks instead. Cowering in fear." Naminé grinned. "I imagine I'd still vote for No-Knife-Land, though. Metal cylinders I simply can't find that scary."

[identity profile] socksofcool.livejournal.com 2007-05-25 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Seely nodded. "Totally explained in the movie."

[identity profile] palestshadow.livejournal.com 2007-05-25 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
"I shall be all right," Naminé said briskly. "I'll write down that phone number and call it when the cylinders invade. There's no fee for shipping, and my satisfaction is guaranteed."

[identity profile] socksofcool.livejournal.com 2007-05-25 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Feeling only a little like a dork, Seely offered Aravis his arm. "Shall we (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/1722809.html)?"

[identity profile] palestshadow.livejournal.com 2007-05-25 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"I suppose it does make sense," Naminé said solemnly. "If their knives fail and we are slaughtered mercilessly by the metal cylinder brigade, we certainly can't call to lodge a complaint."
