Fourth floor common room, Saturday evening

Dean had stretched out a large piece of posterboard over the table and had poured out a number of china shards in a pile beside him from the large sack that was on the floor at his feet. He was carefully sorting through the shards, picking out some to glue to the cardboard.

Just a little arts and crafts project on a Saturday night.

Arts and crafts? Alec was totally there. He picked out several pieces of china with a delicate pattern and tried to arrange them artfully on the posterboard. "Dude, this is nice china," he said. "What happened to the kittens you said were on them?"

Dean shrugged. "They went away when we broke the plates. Guess that broke whatever magic was maintaining the moving pictures."

"Creepy," he noted, nudging two pieces closer together. "But I guess mewling kittens on broken plates would be creepier, so it's probably a good thing."

"Yeah, that would've been all kinds of wrong. This is a lot better." He sat back to look at what they'd done so far. "It's looking good so far."

Sam came upstairs in search of Dean, and snickered when he found him in the common room. "What are you doing?"

"I kind of like it," Alec said, then nudged another piece with a critical frown. "Except that one. It's just not right yet."

"Sammy!" Alec greeted brightly. "Long time, no see!"

Dean shot him a fond look. "So what do we need to do to make it right?"

Sam was surprised by Alec's tone, but tried not to show it. "Hey Alec. I guess it has been a while. How's it going?"

"Being environmentally conscious," Dean said with a smirk. "Making something new and a whole lot less creepy out of this junk."

"Dunno. Glitter?" Not noticing Dean's look, Alec pushed it around with a fingertip as if it were very important to find the exact location for it to be glued in. "Glitter seems to be the answer to everything around here. Suggestions?"

"I don't think anything can be made out of those plates that isn't creepy," Sam replied.

Mel was bored and decided to wander the dorms.

As you do.

And then she found a couple of demon hunters and a former assassin doing mosaics.

"You know of all the guys I expected to be doing arts and crafts, I didn't think it be you guys."

"Something obscene?" Dean guessed. "Kinda make it a theme piece?"

"Hey Mel. Arts and crafts are awesome," Alec stated with a nod. "How can you not like making things with your own hands?"

"Well, we're giving it our best shot," Dean said. "Wanna help?"

"Sure," Sam said, sitting next to Dean. "What do you want me to do?"

Alec shrugged. "Eh, not bad. Has Dawn still not dumped your ass?"

"It all depends on the motivation." Dean gave her a smug smirk. "And the materials."

"Look at me. Do I look like the type of girl who does arts and crafts?" Mel said with a grin.

"No. Girls don't dump good boyfriends," Sam replied.

"Ooh, obscene would be good," Alec agreed, moving the piece to somewhere else entirely. "Should we go for subtle?"

"Yeah, that's why I was wondering," Alec smirked. "How've you been?"

Mel looked at the materials and shrugged. "Just looks like a bunch of broken dishes. So you must have one mongo sized motivation."

"You look like a girl who does whatever the hell she wants and damn what anyone else thinks," Alec said, grinning back.
