Cheer camp! gym, 10:00-16:00, Friday

After spending time with yummy cookies, Buffy bounced over to the gym to make sure everything was ready for another day of hard cheering.

She refilled some water bottles, and pulled mats back into place, and went to fetch a cd player and a bunch of cds, and then she started stretching while waiting for everybody else to show up.

It's all Aly, all the time! Wait until she's tagged in with today's lesson.

Lunch is left-over pizza and water, unless you head towards the cafeteria.

Buffy's back in charge. She yelled to get everyone's attention. "Hey guys! Let's start thinking about the show on Sunday. Like, Annette had a really good idea yesterday about making, like, a show that'd be impressive and also take care of any invading forces that might appear. What do you all think? We could include the kicks and stuff Deadpool taught us, and... I dunno."

She shrugged. "Suggestions?"

Suggest impressive and/or invasion asskicking moves.

Claire sat down on a mat in the box splits as she stretched.

Aly set up a table. And on the table were an assortment of small throwing knives either with the hilts wrapped in blue and gold or with blue and gold tassles attached. She looked rather pale and tired and was moving a bit more slowly than usual but wouldn't admit anything beyond that.

"I've watched you all for a year now, and you're a great squad," Aly said. She grinned at Buffy. "With a fabulous captain who I'm happy to see has returned to us. So today, I thought I'd bring in some of my favourite weapons." She gestured to the table. "And really, if Buffy wants to incorporate this in your routine, I'm all for it. But what I was thinking is that the eye you need for knife-throwing is the same type of judgment you need to spot yourself or someone else doing acrobatics or lifts or flips."

She pointed to the targets set up and demonstrated the proper positioning for the throw. "Go ahead, give it a try, see how it feels."

Somewhere in the back of the gym, a very pissed off merc was watching Aly, looking her over for the injuries he knew had to be there.

Then turned and left without a word.

Z Delgado

Buffy beamed, and went to go first. She picked up one of the knifes and held it in her hand, judging the weight, before turning towards the target and throwing it.

River Tam

Z gave the knife-throwing a try, and was surprised to find her aim with a knife was much better than her aim with a gun. Which was to say, she could be reliably counted on to hit the target with a knife.

River immediately found a place in front of the table and quickly picked to two knives. Seconds later they were both stuck in the target.

River offered no suggestions in words, but replied with a sequence of kicks and moves combining cheer practice with yesterday's class, with a few of her own inventions thrown in.

Buffy watched her thoughtfully. "Yeah, but you're kind of really, really bendy. I don't think all of us can do that."

Buffy was right, but it still hurt. River crouched down on the floor, curled up.

Buffy frowned worriedly. "Are you okay?"
