2nd Floor Common Room, Friday Afternoon

Andrew had a craving for funnel cake so he decided to make some. There was a pot of hot oil on the stove, a bowl of batter, powdered sugar, chocolate syrup, and a can of cherry pie filling all laid out.

Two extra-crispy clumps and a burnt thumb later, he finally managed to produce something that actually resembled the tasty treat he desired.

Buffy was following the smell of something other than boiling voles, (She could swear the smell was still permeating the fifth floor) and ended up in the second floor common room.

Andrew was trying to artfully drizzle some chocolate syrup on a funnel cake. He looked up at the voice he didn't recognize to find a face he did.

"Oh! It's you!"

"Yes, I'm me," Buffy agreed. It was obviously true, after all. "Who are you?"

"I'm Andrew. We kind of went to the same high school. Well, we did go to the same high school. At least you were there when I was there... though I guess maybe I could have not been there when you were there -- if you were there at all -- whenever it is you come from."

It had made sense in his head.

Buffy stared and said the only thing that made sense, "Huh?"

Andrew laughed nervously. "Sunnydale High! I went there too. Yay!" He clapped.

"You, um, you might know my brother? Tucker Wells?"

Buffy sighed. "I've never attended Sunnydale high. Really. I swear." She paused and frowned. "You're from Sunnydale too?" Did everyone from Sunnydale end up attending Fandom High at some point or another?

Adam had been wandering around and made his way into the second floor common room. "Hey Andrew," he smiled and waved at his friend. "How's it going?"

Andrew grimaced. He knew that Buffy was not someone to piss off. "Yeah, I'm from Sunnydale. I'm sorry. So you have no clue who I am? That's awesome."

He held out the funnel cake and asked, "Would you like some deep fried goodness?"

Andrew smiled and waved back. He had just drizzled in another spoon full of batter. "Adam! Would you care for a funnel cake? I think I'm finally getting the whole random swirly deep frying thing down."

"I really don't," Buffy shook her head. She grinned at the cake. "Yes, please. This is so much better than the vole boiling River was doing yesterday."

"Is chocolate okay? I've got some other stuff here as well. Feel free to pile it on. I like my funnel cake as gooey with the extras as possible." He held out a fork for Buffy as well.

"So if you didn't go to Sunnydale High are you still all," at this point Andrew mimed staking himself, "with the vampires and stuff?"

"Yup," Buffy said and happily grabbed the fork. "You know about vampires? I mean, I was in Sunnydale for a couple of months this summer and it was crawling with vamps, but I think I could've slayed a couple in, like, the Bronze and no one would notice."

"Oh, sure, thanks!" Adam loved funnel cakes. "Need any help?"

"It's totally one of those things where you just don't notice them till you notice them. Once Tucker opened my eyes to the demon world... well, lets just say that my aunt yelling at me to get out of the house more wasn't nearly as effective as it was before."

Andrew grabbed the bowl of batter and without making eye contact inquired, "So Dawn never mentioned me?"

"Nah, I got this part. You can totally add your own toppings though." Andrew carefully flipped the frying confection over in the pot.

"So what's new with you? Ready for class to start?"

"I don't think so? Should she have?" Buffy narrowed her eyes at the demon talk. "Are you an evil fiend?"

"Okay, cool," Adam smiled and nodded. "Not much, really. Yeah, I'm definitely ready for them. How about you?"

Andrew totally dropped his batter spoon into the hot oil, splashing some out and onto his hand. "Ouch!" He ran over to the sink and hit the cold water.

"Stupid, stupid, stupid," he muttered under his breath.

Andrew shrugged. "I could use another week off or so. I've gotten a lot done this week. I'm never this productive when classes are in session."

He put a paper towel on a plate and went to fish out the funnel cake for Adam.

"Oh! Are you okay? Did you hurt yourself?" Buffy looked worried, forgetting her evil fiend question. "Do you need the nurse? Or do you heal? Or have magic skills?"

Molly followed her nose to see who was making what. "Hello!" she said with a small wave. "What're you making?"

"It hurts," Andrew whined, holding his hand under the cold water. He didn't deal with pain well. The burn started to blister in a few places and Andrew swooned a little when he noticed.

Turning his head away, he said, "I, um, I don't know if I need the nurse, what do you think?"

It really wasn't that bad.

Buffy came over to inspect the burn. She wasn't good with injuries in normal people. She could never tell if it was serious or not.

Unless they had bits of bone sticking out or something. Then it was pretty obvious.

"I don't know," she said doubtfully. "Maybe you should get a bandage on it? Just in case?"

"Funnel cakes!" Andrew exclaimed proudly. "They're not as easy to make as you might think. And," he pointed to his burnt right hand and thumb, "there is an element of danger to be overcome."

He had just taken out a fresh one. "Would you like?"
