Fourth Floor Common Room [Sunday Evening]

Carmela's not that great a cook (well, she *can* manage a pretty decent pie, thanks to this summer's workshop, but that's baking, technically), so instead she's ordered a few pizzas and plunked them down on the table in the common room for anyone who'd like any. That done, she turns her attention to the TV to ask it (yes, ask it) if there's anything good on. Which is why the television's flipping through channels seemingly on its own as Carmela sits on the couch with a slice of pizza.

"What is that exquisite smell?" asked Anne, who had followed her (still very nice, if you asked her) nose toward the common room.

"Pizza!" Carmela grins, instantly recognising the girl as one of her classmates from the pie workshop. The red hair is kind of unmistakable. "Help yourself to a slice or two," she says, waving at the stack of plates and then the boxes of pizza.

"But . . . what is it?" Anne is still looking very quizzically at the stack of boxes, sniffing as if trying to drink in the aroma of pizza, while at the same time managing to look very confused by it.

One might wonder what a television thought was good. "This is what I love about the common rooms, there's food."

The smell of pizza was very familiar. Hoshi thanked her lucky stars that they had it in this century too. She took a quick look around the common room as she entered. It looked comfortable and big enough that it wouldn't trigger her claustrophobia.

"Hey, Hoshi right?"

"...You've seriously never heard of pizza?" Carmela blinks. Oh sure. Aliens she can take in stride, but someone who's never experienced *pizza* before? Well that's just weird.

"Hoshi!" Carmela grins cheerfully and waves her into the room. "Come in, sit down, have pizza."

Naminé heard sounds from the common room below hers, and grabbed her sketchpad to hop down. "Is this food for everyone?" she asked hopefully. "I'm not on this floor."

Anne shakes her head. "It wasn't something that was awfully common in Avonlea. And when I say awfully common, I mean, at all."

"Thank you," said Hoshi politely, taking a plate and helping herself to a slice of cheese pizza.

"Yes. You're Billy?" she asked.

"Yep. Last name of Kessler. How're you settling in so far?"

"Hey Namine," Carmela says with a smile. "Of course there is, you don't need to live here to have some. I'm just offering it as a way to attract company, and you're company, so that works,"

"Well you'll have to renounce your loyalty to the floor you're from," Billy teased. "But we repealed the obligatory hazing."

"Huh," Carmela says. "Well, it's a crust, topped with tomato sauce, and then cheese and all sorts of meat and veggies. Or just cheese, sometimes."

"That's very kind of you," Naminé smiled. "And it smells delicious. I hope you get rather a crowd, then. Although not too many, or you might run out of pizza. An angry pizza-less mob might be unfortunate."

Apparently the television was a Bitterwoman fan, because it kept flipping back to the channel currently showing reruns. "I'm pretty sure it's possible to go for months at a time without actually cooking for yourself," Carmela confides. "Which is why I figured it was my turn to contribute the free food."

"I do rather like the fifth floor," Naminé mused. "But they've never offered me pizza. All right, then. But how do you know I won't rescind my allegiance once the pizza is gone? I might only be fooling you all to get some of your food, you know."

"And that's when I'd drag Ronan in here and convince him to cook something," Carmela admits with a wink.

Naminé nodded to the red-haired girl with a smile. "Excuse me, but have we met? I don't believe I recall."

"So are you on the fourth floor too then?" Carmela asks hopefully. "Or did you just wander in by chance?"

Naminé laughed. "You've prepared admirably, then. Planned for all eventualities. I won't worry about taking any of the pizza."

That was when she noticed the television. "Is it ... supposed to be doing that?" she asked with concern.

"There was a girl at Turtle and Canary who gave me a lesson in how to use paper currency," said Hoshi. "I'm a little worried. We don't use any sort of currency where I come from."
