4th floor common room, Monday Afternoon

Neville was trying to spend as much time out of his room as he could. Hermione had cast a protective spell on Trevor, so he would probably be all right, but just in case his room mate got mean, Neville had put Trevor in his cage and taken him with him to the common room.

It didn't look half as inviting as the Gryffindor common room, he decided and looked around. It didn't even have a fireplace!

There were lots of interesting muggle things though. He put Trevor down on the table and went to study the big black box curiously. He couldn't figure out what it was for. Some sort of mirror?

"Hey Neville, gonna watch some TV?" John said, having found his way into the common room for some entertainment.

"What's teevee?" Neville asked, turning away from the big black thing. "Is it a game?"

Adam walked into the common room, looking for something to drink and feeling slightly nervous about his date with Eve that was taking place later on.

Jim walked up to the fourth floor and saw activity. It had been too long since he hung out in a common room, so he wandered in. "Hey, new guy. Nice frog."

A.J. jogged (yes, jogged) down to the common room to grab something hopefully delightfully unhealthy to counteract all his secret morning jogging expeditions and bounced, slightly, on his way over to the fridge. He gave the new kid a nod and a "Hey," before riffling for food.

Neville looked up as a boy entered and tried out a friendly grin. "Hello!"

"It's entertainment, like moving pictures telling a story," John explained. He grabbed the remote and turned the TV on. "See?"

Marco had gotten bored in his room, so he wound up in the commons. "Did someone loose the remote control again?"

"It's a toad," Neville corrected. Important distinction. "Hello, I'm Neville. Longbottom. From Hogwarts, in England. Who are you?"

"Hey," Adam smiled brightly. "I don't believe we've met, I'm Adam Park." He offered out his hand to Neville.

Neville jumped out of the way. He turned to stare at the box. He didn't think muggles had moving photographs! But no, they kept on going and with sound!

"Is this a... a... Fellytone?" he asked uncertainly.

Neville nodded back hopefully. At least most people here seemed friendly. Unlike his room mate. "Hello. Um. What are you doing?"

John shook his head. "No, the telephone is for talking. TV is not interactive like that."

"Jim Halpert from Pennsylvania, in America," Jim said. "Nice to meet you. Sorry about the frog thing. I'm not really up on my amphibians."

Neville shook the hand. "I'm Neville Longbottom. I'm new." That was probably obvious. He cast around for something else to say. "...Doesn't it get cold here without a fireplace?"

Marco mimed using a remote control to operate the television. "You're not from around here, are you?"

"What do you do with it then?" Neville tilted his head to get a good look at the moving pictures. "What does that mean?" he added, when one of the women started spinning around until she was wearing different clothing and.. whip?

"You get food from the closet?" Neville said blankly.

"...Is it very obvious?" Neville asked anxiously. He wanted to try fitting in, but this was such a strange place...

Mac wandered in, making a beeline for the coffee, as usual.

She waved a greeting at the room in general, noting that she knew barely anyone in there. Six weeks changed a lot of things, apparently.

Neville nodded. "It's okay. It's just... like apes aren't monkeys. It's important to get it right."
