Third Floor Common Room, Lunchtime

The good thing about this break thing? No classes.

The bad thing about this break thing? No classes. So Z had to find something else to entertain herself with. To that end, she had decided to do some actual cooking, as opposed to 'poking buttons on the Synthetron' cooking. Anyone in the vicinity of the third floor common room around lunchtime would be able to smell Mexican food cooking: enchiladas, to be precise.

Adam was on his way to the gym, when he decided to make a pit stop on the third floor.

Wandering into the common room, he spotted Z. "Hey," he greeted her, with a small wave.

"Hey," said Z. "Want food?"

"Oh, uh, sure. Thanks," Adam smiled. "Enjoying the week off?"

Z shrugged. "Eh. Kinda bored, actually. You?"

"Actually, sort of the same," Adam admitted. "It's weird but without classes, I find myself wondering what to do. I'm actually going to head down to the gym in a bit."

"Hiya, Dorkface!" Jamie said in greeting as he entered the room. "What's shaking?"

"Hey, Betty," said Z. "My bacon is shakin'. Except not really. There's no bacon in enchiladas."

"Ack, gym, I should do that. Sometime, you know. Not now." Why yes, Z was a bit lazy.

It was Wednesday and Peter didn't have to have a newspaper assembled for today. That was nice. That meant that he could get a lot of sleep.

He wandered into the common room and waved. "Hey," he said. "What's cooking?"

"Enchiladas," said Z. "Want some?"

"Oooo. Enchiladas," Jamie said with a hungry look. Are you sharing or do I have to stare at you woth puppy dog eyes?"

"That depends. How would you rate your cooking?" Peter asked.

"I'm sharing," Z said. "But you can still do the puppy dog eyes."

"Decent, as far as it goes," Z told him. "Enchiladas are one of the things I can do."

"In that case, sure, I'll take some," Peter ssaid.

Z handed him a plate and a fork and instructed him, "Help yourself."

"Yeah, I came to that realization earlier," Adam chuckled.

"Thank you," Peter said, grabbing some food. "So, how've you been? Anything exciting going on in the world of Z?"

Z grinned. "I knew you were a smart one."

"That's what I like to tell people," Adam smirked.

Z shook her head. "Not really. I'm thinking of taking up knitting."

"Really?" Peter asked. "You don't strike me as the knitting type." He had no clue what the knitting type was.

He tried an enchilada and said, "This is good."

"Told you so," Z said. "We read a lot in the future, actually. But I don't know, I could make like eight of me and knit four pairs of socks at once."

"You could be your own sweatshop," Peter said. "Just be sure to pay yourself well. There are labor laws."

"No, see, you should do the sneaky thing and not tell them," Z suggested. "Then they'll be all, 'Wow, you're smart! Why didn't you say?'"

"Sneaky, good idea," Adam laughed. "I think I'll take that advice."

"I'll be very careful about that," Z promised solemnly. "I'll pay all eight of me a living wage."

"Well if I'm already sharing what will I get with the puppy dog eyes?" Jamie said flashing said puppy dog eyes.

"Or you could always keep them working until just before payday, then reabsorb them," Peter suggested. "That way they don't exist when they need to get paid so you never have to pay them at all. Legally I think it works."

Z grinned. "Yeah, well, I used to be pretty good at sneaky."

Z tapped her cheek with one finger thoughtfully. "What do you want? Besides food."

"Labor laws for mutants, there's something most people don't have to worry about," Z said. "It sounds about right to me. Watch SPD use it to give me loads of unpaid overtime."

"Gosh," Jamie said putting his chin on his hand, "That is just a darn good question. What do you have to offer?"

"Thirty-five cents and a sharpie?" Z suggested.

"Do I get to draw on your face with the sharpie?" Jamie asked hopefully.

"Sure," Z said. "As long as you don't write any dirty words on my forehead."

She wiggled her fingers at him. "Thief. Ex-thief, actually."

"Well then what's the point of getting the sharpie?" Jamie said with a pout.

"I dunno," Z said with a shrug. "But there's still my pocket change. And some lint?"
