Fifth Floor Common Room, Wednesday Evening

Ino had everything she need to dye A.J.'s hair neatly laid out by the sinks. Even the bleach. He so deserved this, and wasn't she nice for picking out such a pretty shade when it could've been much, much worse?

"Got introduced to you by a friend," she sang, and tried not to dance too much, "you were cute and all that, baby you set the trend." Man, she was never going to be able to get this song out of her head.

After work, A.J. had spared a small moment to go to his room, look in the mirror and give an oh-so-tearful goodbye to his current hair color. "Good bye, my friend," he had told it, "you've been a good hair color. You withstood the test of many paints and bad hair cuts and hanging out in my eyes, but, unfortunately, neither of us can withstand the wrath of a woman scorned. Adieu, nice rich chestnut brown. How I shall miss you."

And then he bucked up and headed upstairs, giving Ino and her setup a little pout as he came into the common room. "Are you sure you really want to do this, Ino?"

She grinned and did a little twirl, "Isn't it obvious?" Ino lightly tossed the dye at him. "It won't be that bad, come on. And it's no more than you deserve."

After all, she'd gone blue. He could go green.

"Oooh," A.J. really couldn't help laughing as he looked at the box. "'Enchanted Forest.'" He lightly tossed the box back. "I'll be like a little leprechaun."

"See? I'm even being nice," she told him, catching it easily, "I could've picked a way uglier colour." Pause. "What's a leprechaun?"

"Little guys who wear green and put treasures at ends of rainbows and shit," A.J. said. "And they talk in really bad Irish accents, lassie," he added, in, of course, a really bad Irish accent. "Just wait until Saint Patrick's Day rolls around in March; I wouldn't be too surprised if we actually get little leprechauns running about."

"Man, this place has the weirdest ideas, I swear," she shook her head, amused, "Is it an important holiday?"

"Not really," A.J. said, looking around to grab a chair and have a seat because, really, he was ready to just get this over with. "It's an Irish holiday that's picked up here in the States because it's a great excuse to just go out and get drunk."

Ino wrinkled her nose slightly. "Don't think I'd care that much for it then. I don't like the idea of losing control of myself." Pause. "That way." She felt it had to be clarified.

She grinned and fetched him a towel. Ino didn't want to get the bleach, or the dye, anywhere it wasn't supposed to go.

"Do you think," she asked, "the school would have it on a list of holiday's for the incoming students? If there actually was a list, I mean."

A.J. quirked an eyebrow, but, somehow, he was doubting she meant what he was thinking she might have meant. And if she was? Damn that Kabuto...

"I actually think," he said, realizing that focusing on that would be a better idea, and he took off his sweater because he wouldn't want to get dye on that, "that's a very good idea. They should include other holidays, too, that people from different places celebrate, too, because I don't know any of those, but would like to, especially since our holidays are so, y'know, prominent."

Ino'd actually been thinking about all the effort it took to learn Shintenshin, and it's related mind tricks. From the stories she'd heard about her Dad when he was drunk... anyway. Although there was some experimenting she'd been doing with Kabuto... she hadn't meant that.

"That'd be a fantasic idea!" She enthused. "Beauty and I were talking about it today," Ino told him, "and about how Christmas was a surprise to us. 'Cause she doesn't celebrate it as much as you guys do and it doesn't even exist in my world."

A.J.'s mouth shifted a little at the mention of Beauty, and he wondered if Ino had mentioned the hair thing to her. He didn't ask, though, ~~since it was still going, la~~. "I'm sure you guys aren't the one ones, either. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if there are more that don't than those that do. I mean, I always feel like I'm in the minority, because I come from such an utterly normal place. Ten years in the past, but still about the same thing."

"And it's kinda, you know, more fun to know about these things in time to prepare for them." Ino made a face, "I've still got a few more presents to get, and one of them's definitely going to be way late." She tugged gently on his hair, "But that just means you get to help all of us out by explaining it to us, and we definitely appreciate it."

Troy was mostly wandering the dorms in search of something to do when he made his way up to the fifth floor. Upon entering, he grinned. "Y'know, A.J., if you wanted to dye your hair, I would totally have helped."

"I suck at explaining them," A.J. warned her. "Case in point? I've still got all my presents to get, and I've been celebrating the holiday since as long as I can remember."

"You've been living with me how long and you think this is a choice?" A.J. countered, with no small pout.

"It's revenge," Ino told the other guy airily, "so I'm the one that gets to do it."

Troy laughed. "I'm almost afraid to ask what you did to deserve this."

Troy nodded. "Revenge for what?" he asked.

"But you still know about it, and that's what's important." She said, getting the bleach ready, "You know that every December you'll need to get presents for people."

"Nothing more," A.J. said with a haughty lift of his chin, "than what she completely and one hundred percent knew what she was getting. Still, I'm a pushover, so here I am." He sighed, looking up at the dye soaking through his beautiful hair. "Awaiting green hair."

She pointed at her head, still half blue from paint, "For doing this to me." Ino wrinkled her nose, "It won't come out no matter what we do."

"And, every December, I procrastinate on it until the last minute," A.J. grinned, but the grin soon slipped away as he warned her, "Be careful with it. Please? If you fuck this up, I don't think I could get over it."

Ino eyed him, before nodding, "I'll be careful, don't worry." She smiled reassuringly at him, "They cover this sort of thing in the girl's classes at the Academy, you know? I know what I'm doing." It was just that she'd never ever do it to her own hair.

"Green's not so bad," he said. "Although it's not a good as purple." He frowned for a moment, in thought. "... Think I should go purple again?"

There was a confused pause.

"At the Ninja Academy?"
