3rd Floor Common Room - Late, Late Night, Saturday

It was Saturday. What was the point of sleeping on a Saturday night when that's what you could use Sunday for? It wasn't like they had classes until Monday. That was Ferris' reasoning for being up unreasonably late, dressed in his bathrobe, and in the 3rd floor common room. The TV wasn't on in case the people next door wanted to sleep. Besides, he was busy turning the room into one giant blanket and pillow fort. This activity was much quieter and still managed to fulfil his need for controlled chaos.

Plus, sometimes Ferris was a big kid.

"Nice bathrobe," Jamie said wandering into the CR to see if there was any free food around. "Ooo... Is it pillow fort time?"

"This is a usual thing? Darn. I thought I was being original. Got any bed linen to contribute to my masterpiece?"

Dawn was already in her pajamas (flannel with feet, since it was freezing out), but mostly because she'd never gotten out of them that morning. "Need more blankets?"

Who cared that she didn't know him?

"It's not an every day occurence," Jamie said quickly stamping his foot and creating a dupe.

"Go steal something from other rooms," he ordered before turning back to Ferris. "Though what we really need is pizza. Pizza and pillow forts."

Alex was still up, even if it was late. Hey, it was a Saturday, she didn't need to be asleep yet.

Clad in her pajamas (http://pics.livejournal.com/stylin_wizard/pic/00002ht1) and slippers (http://pics.livejournal.com/stylin_wizard/pic/00003ae5), she made her way to the common room.

"Whoa, nice!" she admired the work he was doing. Hey, forts were cool. She just wouldn't ever admit that to her brothers.

Ferris stared. He blinked a few times, then looked off to the side at the audience that wasn't there as far as anyone was concerned, then looked back at Jamie. "There are two of you." He blinked again. "Were there always two of you?"

Ferris looked up. "A girl after my own heart. We can always use more blankets." He offered a hand. "Ferris Bueller."

Hermione had been trying to get herself organized for the coming week, which was why she had completely lost track of time, and why she ended up in the common room far too late.

"That's..." she began, and sighed. "I don't think that's really the proper use for any of those things."

"Why thank you," Ferris replied with a self-satisfied smile. "I'm afraid we have a toll for entry. Either a pillow or a blanket to add to our humble fort."

"There's lots of me. It's a mutant thing but that's not important right now," Jamie said wagging his finger. "Right now we're in pillow fort mode. There's planning to be done and then fun to be had."

"Dawn Summers," she shook it. "How do you feel about bridges and hammocks in your forts? I'm partial to them, but they require more pillows and a degree in engineering so they don't fall over."

"You're welcome," Alex grinned, amused. "Oh, right. Be right back, then."

She made it back to her room and grabbed her blanket that happened to be hanging on the edge of the bed, and hightailed it back to the common room.

"Will this work?" She offered up the blanket to him.

Jamie looked over at Hermione and grinned. "Hey everyone! Granger's here to show off her new tattoo!"

"There's no such thing as proper use. There's only plausible use. If you think it can be done, then chances are someone has tried it and chances are that someone is me." Still, he offered a hand. "Ferris Bueller, fort builder extraordinaire."

"Okay. Am I the only one not wearing pajamas?" Jamie asked. "Because I don't want to be the only odd man out."

Ferris looked at where the duplicate had retreated, then at the audience again, then back at Jamie. Mutants. It took Ferris a brief moment to decide whether he was going to boggle some more at the issue or take the new guy up on his plan of pillow forts and fun. Being Ferris, the latter won out.

"I'm thinking a grand scale fort depending on how many pillows and blankets we can farm and how many people we get stopping by. If it's only you and me, we'll live like kings for the night, but I think I can handle sharing as long as everyone's in on the project. I'm Ferris Bueller, by the way."

"I'm sorry to admit that I'm lacking a degree in engineering. If you have one to contribute, so long as everything doesn't fall down, I'm all for making this the best darned fort the school has ever seen."

"Perfect. Come on in, enjoy the stay at Chez Bueller. I don't think I caught your name."

"Why, thank you," Alex chuckled, happy at receiving an invite. "This must be an exclusive place," she quipped. "I'm Alex Russo," she offered out her hand to him.

"Nope," she told him cheerfully, already gathering more pillows and wondering if getting string would be going overboard, "but there's maybe other people here who do. How come you got tackled by the impulse to fort?"

"Jamie Madrox," he said picking up a pillow and a blanket. "And I think I just realized a great way to take care of the pillow shortage."

And then there was a bunch of stamping of feet and lots of Jamies.

All holding pillows and blankets.

The dupes threw them on the floor and were quickly reabsorbed.

"Nice to meet you Ferris now damn it! Time's wasting! Let's get this fort moving! Hut! Hut! Hut!"

"Maybe?" Dawn glanced from herself to Ferris, then back at Jamie. "If you're the odd man out, can't you just make another you, and be all evened up?"

Sometimes she was a little too literal.

Ferris shrugged. "First time I've lived away from home. Not that I'm homesick, but at home I had things, places and people to keep me busy. Here, I have a bag full of clothes, a baseball and the pillows and blankets on my bed until my other stuff arrives next week. Keeping busy is an important thing to me."

Bad things happened when Ferris was bored.

Hermione rolled her eyes. "I don't have a tattoo. Anyone who knows me can tell you that without needing proof," she said.

"Hermione Granger, would-be prefect," she said, almost using that as a warning, but she shook his hand. "Why are you building a fort?"
