4th Floor Common Room [Monday Night]

Triela was seated in a chair in the common room with a small leather-bound journal in front of her. She was making a series of notes. Hillshire was going to want a report from her soon, and she figured that having some notes about her first week would be useful.

She wasn't trying to hide what she was doing, and her hand-writing was more than legible, it was downright elegant (Hillshire had picked calligraphy for hand-eye coordination training).

-Roommate is a civilian, should be interesting.
-Teachers seem knowledgable in their fields, may learn something.
-Student body is... odd, very odd.
-Things to do: find sparring partner, find shooting partner, inquire about CQB training facilities.
-Note to self: find out status of girls at home, esp. H and R.

She paused to pour herself another cup of tea and gather her thoughts before getting back to work.

[Common room!]

Taking a break from the dresser project that was still under construction, A.J., looking a bit disheveled from his hard work with a faint streak of blue paint across his cheek that he wasn't aware of, headed into the common room to find himself a late snack. He lifted a hand and gave a small smile in greeting to the girl who was sitting there, not wanting to disturb her if she wanted to concentrate on what she was working on, but definitely not wanting to rude.

"I'm not sure," A.J. admitted with a grin as he grabbed a box of cookies from one of the cupboards, "but the fact that you asked doesn't make me feel as bad about it." Chuckling slightly, he moved over to plop down on a chair and offer a hand. "I'm A.J."

A.J. tilted his head, his face twisted in an amused expression of question. "Is that...a comment on my face being too plain and unrememberable, or a comment on your memory?"

Unfortunately, A.J. wasn't always the best on picking up tones, and, with a slight, thoughtful hum, he muttered, "Yeah. Me, too." Like his manners, he realized with a blink, before holding out the box of cookies toward Triela. "Cookie?"

"Well, that's different," A.J. remarked idly with a grin as his head quirked at the tea-dipping. "But it's not like I'm around a lot of people who drink tea a lot, either..."

[identity profile] by137.livejournal.com 2008-01-15 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
"Tea might be?" A.J. offered uncertainly. "I tend to roll with a more coffee drinking crowd. And I don't think I've ever seen anyone dip a cookie in tea. Is it any good?"

A.J. grinned back a little. "Maybe I'll have to try it sometime," he said and bit into his own cookie. He spent a moment thinking about the dryness, although he felt this kind seemed to hold its own pretty well. "Not now. I think I'm good for the moment, but I'll keep it in mind when I'm feeling more...adventurous."

Funnily enough Peter was also in a mood to update his journal. And to watch TV while he did it. So he poked his head into the common room. "Hey. Mind some company?"

"Exactly, man!" A.J. countered back, although his attempts to sound sincere about it were rightly trashed by a grin that wouldn't go away. "I mean, come on, tea and cookies. Might as well throw the whole gravitational pull of the world off center or something, with that level of craziness."

"Sure, thanks," Peter said. He held out a hand to shake. "I don't think we've met. I'm Peter Petrelli."

A.J. couldn't help snickering a little at that. "And detention would suuuck." His head tilted with a slight realization, "You know, I don't think I've had a detention since I started here. That's...kind of surprising."

"Nice to meet you, Triela," Peter said. "And thanks for the tea."

Peter took a seat and put his own journal in his lap. "So whatcha working on, if you don't mind my asking?"

"Oh, come on," A.J. implored with a disbelieving face. "And how long have you been here? Like, a week? Maybe?"

And then he bit his lip, somewhat nervous. "You are new, right, and not just, like, someone who I for some reason have just never seen before?"
