The Roof, Thursday Morning

Ino was up on the roof bright and early and totally waiting for Liir to show up. Her pacing was looking a lot more like bouncing and every now and then she did a little spin simply for the sake of having fun.

This morning, this morning was going to be wonderful.

Flying!

[Ino's waiting for a certain boy and his broom, clearly. But it's open for all your other roof~y needs!]

He'd had an interesting morning, to be sure, and as such he'd done a bit of assembly (you couldn't really call it cooking all that much) to produce a pair of sandwiches for them both. Considering his own tendencies, he figured they'd eat them after, but he'd leave it up to her.

As such, he was a little later than she was; he walked slow as he considered how to tell her about what he'd seen. He might have been able to consider it a fever vision, except for the same determination he'd seen in her eyes. It was most certainly Ino.

"Good morning," he greeted as he got to the roof, his broom in its usual quiver at his hip. "Breakfast first, or the flight?"

He smiled, considering one of the memories he'd gotten. Two of them, actually. His madness had been kind today, it seemed. Almost like a benediction.

"And to you."

His bag was put down and the broom was pulled from its holster.

"I'll go in the back, since I'm taller," he said, the broom shifting in his hand almost like an anxious colt, "And I'll be steering it at first. Once you've gotten a hang of it, perhaps, you can steer a little."

He hugged her back, breathing in with a pleased smile before letting her go.

"I'm serious. I'd let you take it up yourself if it didn't seem to be a finicky thing that only works consistently for me."

He stepped back and slung his leg over the handle before gesturing for her to do the same, taking one hand from it so she could get on unhindered.

"It wasn't exactly common where I'm from either," he said as he reached around her to grasp the handle. His arms settled rather comfortably around her shoulders. "Now, just push off from the ground."

He pushed.

The broom lifted though not unpleasantly. The closest comparison would be to sitting on a bike seat, though just a bit harder. Not that it mattered. It could be made entirely of cactus and it wouldn't matter, at least not to Liir.

It was flying.

"As high as you like and as quick as you can, really," he said as he took them on a slow incline ever upwards.

He laughed as well. He was flying. He could do anything while he was flying.

"Yes, we are," he said as he increased the speed just a little. He was never sure exactly how he did it, since to lean forward would send them down. But there was a twitch of his hand and they were going faster, now over the grass instead of just the roof.

"Let me know if you feel uncomfortable."

Another twitch and they were going faster. He tilted the broom up further, taking them higher.

Then, on a flight-brained whim, he made sure to hold his arms tightly around her before taking them on a flip.

"Good Liir or Wicked Liir?" he asked her with a laugh of his own, increasing their speed just a little more, twirling through the air on a barrel roll.

He took them on another loop, then shot them straight up before swerving from a cloud and spinning them down in a corkscrew in a dive. He pulled up well before it might have been the least bit terrifying and sent them swooping back and forth through the sky.

No.

There was no Good, no Wicked, there was nothing but the sky. But flying.

And once again, he wondered how anyone thought they'd lived a day without doing this.

He took them up almost to cloud level and let them settle out there into a drifting sort of float.

"Would you care to take it for a spin? I don't quite-- the speed is hard to explain, but steering is simple enough. Point and you go there."

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 05:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"Try not to crash," he said, "And if I think you will, I'll do something."

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"Let me know if you want to increase the speed," he said. He wouldn't do it without telling her.

Whatever it was that he did to make it go faster, he did it and the broom took off like a shot.

"That's the nice thing about being up here," he said as well as he could with the wind rushing past.
