Third Floor Common Room: Thursday Evening

There was a sign near the entrance to the CR.

Single Zone:
No couples or significant others allowed.
Any couple coming in and acting cute enters at their own risk

Anyone venturing past the sign would find Mel watching horror movies. Specifically horror movies where young couples in love end up getting killed.

There was also a mug of something she was drinking that was definitely not alcoholic. Really.

Doom, needing a break from his work, came down to the common room.

"Excellent choice for a sign," he complimented. "This false holiday has no place here."

Rikku peered in, a few now-wilted roses still bouncing in her hair, holding a huge bag of candy. "Hiya! Ooooooooh, is this Bloody Teenage Massacre 4?!"

What? Her ex liked horror flicks.

"I don't mind the holiday," Mel said. "I just don't need to see any forced cuteness. What's up with the outfit? The masquerade thing is tomorrow."

"Five," Mel said. "Or six. Does it matter? They all die and that's what's important. Gimme candy."

"Hiya!" Rikku bounced, not recognizing the dude with the metal suit thing going, but eh. Fandom, right? "Did you want some candy?"

She held out her bag jammed full of Reese's Peanut Butter Hearts, tiny candy hearts with sayings on them, and all sorts of obnoxious cutesy Valentine-oriented things like that.

"I have lots," she explained.

"One of 'em had that girl in it, you know, the one who almost looks like that other one?" Rikku said, tossing some of the sugary goodness over to Mel and cramming some into her mouth. "And I was sure she was dating that one guy but everyone says it's just a cover 'cause he's gay. But it's not her anyway and I think it wasn't this one."

Ferris took a running jump and flopped onto a spare couch. "This is the life."

"You said it," Mel said kicking her feet up. "We all need some sort of refuge from all those couplese."

"I have no idea who you are talking about," Mel said. "They all are blond and have giant manufactured breasts. And they all die in the movie."

"Hiya!" Rikku bounced. "Want some candy? I have lots."

She had already eaten a lot, given her current state of extreme hyper, but that didn't mean she didn't have plenty left. She shoved the bag of Reese hearts and tiny slogan hearts and just about anything else moddable you might find kicking around the Sugar Overdose aisle near Valentine's.

"This armor is what Doom wears," Doom said. "Doom has no need for dances."

"One of 'em's taller," she said helpfully. "I forget which one? But she screams way better. I wonder why they're always blonde? Maybe brunettes are better fighters?"

Now Mel was just staring at Doom as if he was insane.

"Riiiiiight. So I'm guessing you're Dooooom?" Mel asked. "Or somehow there's another person wearing armor."

"Okay," Rikku shrugged. "You change your mind and it's over here. You aren't a Ronso, are you?"

They totally talked in third-person, too. But they were seven-foot-tall blue horned cat people, so probably not.

"I'd like to think so," Mel said with a small smirk. "Not that I support stereotypes."

"Jumping onto furniture is the life?" Doom asked. "Bah. You do not know what living truly is."

"I used to be one of those couples. I think I like this Valentine's Day better. I've spent a lot less money."

"I am indeed Doctor Doom," Doom said. "Though if there were another armor-clad person in this school, you would be able to easily distinguish between us due to the surely inferior quality of their armor."

"What is a Ronso?" Doom asked.

He wasn't going to give an answer until he knew what one was. He wasn't one to fall for language tricks.

Zack wandered into the common room. "Evening."

"Looks kind of bulky," Mel commented. "Isn't it uncomfortable to wear?"

"They're ... uh. About this tall? Blue and furry and big freaking horns and they're really good fighters and they live up on Gagazet where it's really cold. Uh. So ... I'm guessing you're not? Although Kimahri doesn't have a horn, either, I mean, his got broken off, and you might have fur under the armor. Sulley's pretty furry." Rikku munched on another candy heart as if the above made sense in any way whatsoever.
