It was breakfast time, as far as this weetiny alien was concerned, and that meant fixing his own. As usual.

He was in the kitchen, trying to reach up to a counter designed for taller people than him and make pancakes.

Ino poked her head in the common room after leaving Annette's room, looking to swipe some juice before heading outside, and grinned.

"Hiiiiii!"

"Hi", he returned, with a small smile in return.

...hey, most people wouldn't even have got that.

"What're you doing?" Ino wandered in, almost bouncing.

Her breakfast had been chocolate; she was allowed to bounce.

"Making pancakes", he said matter of factly. "You want some?"

[intraspective]

"Okay!" Ino beamed at him. "I've got chocolate! Do you want some of that?"

Sharing was important!

"I'm not s'posed to have chocolate in the morning." That was something he'd picked up from somewhere not-Hank. "...okay."

"Daddy says that too," Ino said, digging in her pockets and coming up with a chocolate bar. She offered it to him. "But Daddy's not here, so it's okay."

"Nor's Hank. But Hank wouldn't care, 's Missis Evans that says chocolate's bad."

He accepted the bar.

"It's okay on vacation! We can pretend that's why we're here!" Ino said, beaming. "It's not bad at all!"

"We're at school", he pointed out, unwrapping it anyway. "Not vacation."

"We're not at home," Ino pointed out, "it counts as vacation to me."

"Guess", Michael allowed. "What're you doing today?"

"Playing!" She said brightly, doing a little spin. "I'm going to go outside after and see who all wants to play with me! And then I wanna go into town and explore."

Ino beamed. "And tonight's a sleepover night!"

"Sleepovers are just for girls", he opined with all the wisdom of his eight years.

Ino pouted at him. "They are not! We're going to be inviting boys too!"

"Bet none of them go. You'll just want to... paint their nails and things."

Someone is subjected to far too much trashy TV.

[intraspective]

"Nuh huh," Ino said, though Annette had totally painted her nails that morning, "we're going to paint Annette's room! And eat marshmallows!"

He blinked.

"Paint her room?"

She clapped her hands together. "Yes! It's going to be lots of fun!"

"What's wrong with her room the way it is?"

[intraspective]

"It's not pretty enough, and she was lonely and didn't want to be left all alone tonight, so we decided to fix it. So it'll be pretty and she'll have company." Ino glanced at him. "Wanna come too?"

"...only if other boys said they'd go", he said warily.

[intraspective]

"I haven't asked anyone else yet," Ino said honestly, "but I bet they'll come. I'm pretty convincing! And, and, if no other boy shows up you could always leave, I guess."

But she'd wibble at him.

"If I come, you won't let me leave." He knew the ways of girls! "Come ask me again if someone says they'll go."

It was amazing how fast a tadpole could move when one wanted to. And this tadpole was hungry! For breakfasts!

[Hi!] he called out to anyone within earshot. He didn't know how to speak Grown Up, or even English yet so it sounded like baby talk.
