Scorpius Campfire, Monday after classes

Amber had every intention of curling up with a book before the fire, you know, being all peaceful like, but omg yay campfire! She made a quick handwavy run into town and grabbed a couple bags of marshmallows, and after another fifteen minutes or so, she found a few good sticks.

So there she sat, roasting marshmallow after marshmallow. "Oh my gosh, sticky little devils..." She only wished now she would have gotten chocolate bars and grahams. Man.

[It's open and stuff, yep!]

Peter, glad to be done with his one workshop for the day, came on by. "Hey Amber."

"No way I could reasonably say no to that," Peter said. He reached for said stick. "Thanks. So looks like we're sharing a cabin."

"Luckily I think we're out of the way of any scorpians." Peter paused, thinking about it. "Then again I have no idea if scorpians live in Greece."

"Can't hurt to be on the safe side," Peter said. "Bug bites aren't fun for anyone."

Liir did bring a book and sat off by himself, looking somewhat as if he wanted to throttle said book in it's sleep.

"Fighting 101 and Intergalactic Justice," Peter said. "You?"

He looked angry, then startled, and finally smiled when he saw who it was. It was a frail smile, the kind someone put on when they weren't all that happy but didn't want to bring anyone else down, but it was a smile.

"Hi, Amber. How're you? We haven't talked for a while. I've... kind of been keeping to myself lately."

He'd ask her what she was up to soon enough.

"Karaoke sounds interesting," Peter admitted. "How exactly do they judge you for that?"

His head quirked to one side curiously, his interest taking precedence over everything else. It was easy enough to stuff his emotions away, after all. He just knew they'd come back later at some completely unrelated moment in revenge.

Life would go on. And he liked Amber.

"Theatre?"

He hadn't known there was a theatre.

"And you're still working at the Turtle and Canary, yes?"

"So are we going to see you at Caritas next?" Peter asked. "Practicing to become the next American Idol?"

"Sure," though he wasn't as familiar with them as he perhaps should be as anything other than another kind of food. Their connection to campgrounds and fires and such was entirely unknown to him.

"Thank you," he says before closing his book and putting a small placemarker in.

"Why do you have it on the stick?"

"I would totally go to cheer you on if you did," Peter said.

"So we don't get anything in the kitchen sticky?"

He smiled, a little more genuinely now. The longer he spoke, the easier it was to push away his irritation. Maybe he shouldn't have hidden away.

"I've never heard of such a thing." He laughed. "Then again, I haven't camped since I came here, and we don't have marshmallows at home."
