Lupus Campfire: Late Evening

Ron was awake and very bored. As a result he's sitting by the campfire and contemplating what random items he can find to throw into the fire and see if it burns.

Rikku watched with some amusement.

"Any interesting explosions?"

"I sure hope you're plotting something interesting out here so late," John said, plopping down at a campfire that was not his own, but was lit. The latter being the important part.

"The acorns make a nice popping sound," Ron said with a shrug. "Otherwise it just kind of burns up. Got anything you want to toss in?"

"Right now I'm just trying to throw things in and see burns," Ron replied. "Which... is about as exciting as it sounds."

"Have anything fun to burn?" John asked.

"Do you think we'd get in trouble if things blow up?" she asked, looking at it curiously. "I mean, I have explosives, I'm just wondering if they'd give us detention for setting off fireworks for no good reason."

"I think they'd give us credit for creating a festive atmosphere," Ron grinned. "Isn't that what's important?"

"Well I've been burning this little pictures I've made of two professors who've made my life an act of complete humiliation," Ron said holding up a drawing of crude stick figures. "Which may not be fun but I find it very cathartic."

"Have you tried making their lives miserable in return?" John asked, checking out the stick figures and wondering who they were.

"I did once," Ron replied. "However the little pixie thing can set my eyebrows on fire. I like my eyebrows."

"John!" Rikku waved. "I haven't seen you in ages! What cabin are you in? How've you been? Dude!"

"School spirit," Rikku said. "I used to do whip up nul-all spells, those were nifty. You could hit someone with an elemental and they'd be immune to it, and until then you just had little orbs circling around you. Jude called them 'moons.' I did it now and then to cheer him up."

John grinned and waved back, "I've been around someplace. I'm in Sirius Cabin with very not serious people, and hi to you, too!" Her enthusiasm was so contagious.

"Elementals?" Ron asked. "Like make people immune to fire? But with moons?"

"Oh, that's just scary," John said. "Wait, aren't you magical?"

"Just for one hit," she said. "I mean, it's not permanent, it's just, here, the next time someone throws fire at you, the spell absorbs it and you don't, and the spell goes away. Lemme ... hmmm. I wonder if I've got the right gems here to mix one of those up, lots of mine are back at the weapons locker."

She sat down next to him and started sifting through her legpouch.

"Yes," Ron said. "But I'm not magically delicious. Nor am I in the mood to get tossed out of school for inflating the teachers so they'll float away out into the open seas."

"Ooooooh. I think I know someone else there but I don't remember who." She frowned for a second. "Nope, can't place it. I'm here! Uh. Obviously. Lupus. Pretty cool. I love summer term. And not just 'cause the weather stops sucking. But it did. Which rules."

"Do you have one that protects you from Pixie magic?" Ron asked before quickly adding "Hypothetically, of course."

"Too bad you don't do voodoo," John decided. "At least they couldn't trace that back to you."

"You guys just gotta hope there's nothing signifying you're gonna lose an arm or something given your cabin name," John teased. "Rainy weekends aren't fair."

"Eh. If it was remotely magical they'd probably blame it on me anway," Ron said with a shrug.

"What kind of pixie magic?" Rikku asked. "I mean, I can protect against certain things, but I have to know what she's doing first. I can make armor, like, slowproof or stoneproof or deathproof - that's insta-kills, not like ALL death, ever, or that's the only armor you'd ever need, right? - but not all-purpose magic-immune."

She was making a few piles out of potions and phoenix downs and other such things. Ooooh, lunar curtain. Now if she just had a healing water, she'd be in business.

"Well I'm never sure what could happen," Ron replied. "Or what she could do-"

What to pay attention in DADA, Ron.

"I'd just like to keep my eyebrows. Is that possible?"

"That sucks," John sympathized. "I got lucky and the teacher out to get me is off this semester." He couldn't be happier.
