The roof, Tuesday just before dawn
Karal, dressed in formal robes and accompanied by a very concerned Altra, made his way up to the roof. Normally he'd go right to the edge, but Altra refused to allow it. Frankly, Karal was just as glad, given that looking down from Altra's perspective gave him a touch of vertigo.
He would simply say the Rites from a few feet back.
On the plus side, however, he could see in the dark, so the minimal pre-dawn light didn't bother him.
